Wide receiver Kam Perry announced on Thursday that he was entering the NCAA transfer portal. The Hoosiers started spring practice on Thursday. Perry played in nine games for the Hoosiers in 2023. He made three catches for 22 yards.

For teams like Indiana who are trying to spring upsets or get back on track special teams plays a vital role. Just ask Scott Frost at Nebraska who onsides kicked his way onto a seat hotter than the sun in Week 0.

Last season, IU was either great or terrible in the special teams department. Placekicker Charles Campbell was one of the best kickers in the Big Ten early on but, like the rest of the team, tanked in the second half. IU had little-to-no return game after D.J. Matthews and Reese Taylor got injured and Punter James Evans was very inconsistent.

The wide receiver group that the Hoosiers went into 2021 with was supposed to be one of the best in the conference, but by the end of the year it was almost unrecognizable. This unit was a major disappointment in a season where there were plenty of disappointments. After losing D.J. Matthews for the season during the Western Kentucky game, this unit disappeared. However, the 2022 wide receiver room will look vastly different for the Hoosiers.
