Following the 2023 season, a lot of things changed in a very quick period of time for Indiana football. Head coach Tom Allen was let go after losing to Purdue and falling well short of a bowl game again. After a coaching search full of rumors and guesses, IU surprised nearly everyone by hiring serial winner Curt Cignetti away from James Madison.

There is no question that the IU Football Program has struggled at the offense line the past two seasons especially against the Buckeyes. Things seem and hope to be changing according to head coach Tom Allen and Offensive Coordinator Walt Bell.

The Indiana Hoosiers began their fall practices in preparation for the 2023 season in Bloomington on Wednesday morning. With it being the first day, players were just in helmets and getting acclimated to being back on the field. Despite the lack of pads IU offensive line coach Bob Bostad was ready to work.

Welcome to the annual Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff for Indiana football. The Hoosiers are coming off a 4-8 (2-6) season that saw some improvements but was ultimately disappointing. 2023 brings in many new faces on the field as well as on the sidelines for the Hoosiers as IU tries to get back to a bowl game for the first time since 2020. While there may not be a ton of momentum on the field for IU, there is reason for excitement as the season draws closer. These are some of the things to look forward to this season.

Indiana senior offensive lineman Mike Katic was blunt with his answer about what is pushing him and the rest of the offensive line so far this year. “We kind of really want to prove to all the noise out there that you know, we're we can play and we can protect.” Katic said.

It was painfully obvious what plagued Indiana’s offense the last two seasons, the offensive line. To remedy the issue, Tom Allen hired Bob Bostad formerly of the Wisconsin Badgers to be the Hoosiers offensive line coach in 2023. Bostad is a no nonsense coach who does not want to be in the spotlight. He just wants to coach as evidenced in a recent ‘Mic’d Up’ session for IU’s social media team.

The Indiana Hoosiers wrapped up their third spring practice, and first one in full pads, on Thursday. Much of the focus this spring is on building toughness within the program, especially along the offensive line. There is a reason that ‘Toughness’ is Tom Allen’s one word for the program in 2023.

The Indiana Hoosiers hit the indoor field at the Mellencamp Pavilion on Tuesday for spring practice number two. There has been plenty of turnover for the Hoosiers both on the field and in the coaching staff. Head coach Tom Allen has brought in three new on field coaches this season so this spring is seeing how the new coaches are becoming entrenched in the program.

The Indiana Hoosiers will open their spring football practice on March 4th and hold 15 practices before the spring season concludes with their Spring Football Event on April 15th in Memorial Stadium.
