The Indiana Hoosiers have 14 former players in the NFL who have reported to training camp and are projected to earn roster sports in 2020. The NFL offseason was far from normal, but the regular season is set to open Thursday, September 10th with a full slate of games the following Sunday. Here’s an update on where those former Hoosiers are right now.

As the decade closes out and we ring in a new year in just a few hours, I have put together my All-Decade team for the Indiana Hoosiers. This is just my opinion and I encourage discussion. The 2010’s were an up and down time for the Hoosiers as three head coaches spent time leading IUFB. The Hoosiers have had success though and some may call it the most successful decade since the 1980’s or 1990’s for the Hoosier football program. Indiana’s team won 49 games over the ten years, including six wins against Purdue (the first winning decade against the Boilermakers since the 1940’s) and qualified for three bowl games.

It was an eventful weekend for former Hoosiers in the NFL. Eight IU players were active this week and two Hoosier running backs, Tevin Coleman and Jordan Howard, have emerged as the primary rushers for San Francisco and Philadelphia respectively. Former Indiana Hoosier offensive lineman Wes Martin was selected 131st overall (fourth round) by the Washington Redskins in the 2019 NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon. Martin played in 50 games (43 starts) in his Hoosier career and was a two-time All-Big Ten honorable mention. With Martin’s selection, the Hoosiers have now had a player in six consecutive drafts.

For four years, Wes Martin may have been the strongest player on the Indiana football roster. Martin developed his strength baling hay growing up on a dairy farm in West Milton, Ohio. He’s also very smart. Martin earned an Academic All-Big Ten selection all four years of college. He redshirted his first season in Bloomington. In 2015, Martin proved his worth right away. He played in 13 games and started six as a redshirt freshman. Martin played a key role in an Indiana offense which finished first in the Big Ten.
