Former Hoosier Rodger Saffold is on the Move to the Tennessee Titans

Rodger Saffold signed a four-year, $44 million contract with the Tennessee Titans last week. The well-deserved deal includes $22.5 million guaranteed. After several successful seasons with the Rams, culminating in a Super Bowl loss last February, Saffold hopes to benefit from a change of scenary. Saffold is Indiana’s NFL ironman. Having played in 114 games and starting 111 of them, Saffold is the longest tenured former Hoosier at the professional level. Throughout his remarkable career, Saffold has played left tackle and both guard positions, ultimately settling in at left guard for the past three years.

Hoosiers at the Next Level: Rodger Saffold, OG, Los Angeles Rams

While Tevin Coleman and Jordan Howard continue to rack up yards and touchdowns, perhaps the most decorated Hoosier in the NFL is Rodger Saffold. He started 41 games for IU over the course of his four-year collegiate career, primarily at the left tackle position. By his senior year, he earned second team All-Big Ten honors and was projected as a second-round draft pick due to his size, durability, and athleticism. The St. Louis Rams drafted Saffold 33rd overall in the 2010 NFL Draft. Now in his eighth year with the Rams, Saffold proved he’s incredibly valuable by having his best NFL season to date. Saffold has truly put his stamp on the Rams franchise both on and off the field.
