After signing nineteen in the early signing period, Tom Allen and coaching staff hit the recruiting trail to complete the 2020 signing class. The Hoosiers had yet to sign a defensive end in the upcoming recruiting class until Mark Hagen closed in on Jalen Mayala, who announced his commitment to Indiana football following his visit on January 24th.

The recruiting trail just got a little brighter for head Coach Tom Allen. Despite coming up short in back-to-back 5-7 seasons, Allen and the IU coaching staff have managed to bring in IU’s highest ranked recruiting class in 2019. With a verbal commitment from Indiana’s highest-ranked recruit in history this year, it was clear that Allen is truly building something special. Coming off back-to-back road wins, at Maryland and Saturday’s 38-31 finish at Nebraska, it is a fact that Allen’s game plan for building the Indiana football program is indeed effective.

With the early signing period just over two months away, it’s time to take a look at who has committed to play football for Indiana so far. Tom Allen set the bar high with the highest-ranked recruiting class in IU football history in 2019. As of October 9th, Indiana’s 2020 class is ranked 60th nationally and 12th in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports. (All rankings of players are directly from 247Sports).

Indiana has had some success in recruiting the state o Texas recently poaching players like Ralph Green (San Antonio), Jameel Cook (Missouri City), Dimitric Camiel (Houston), Richard Lagow (Plano), while Tyler Natee (Euless), Mackenzie Nworah (Houston) will join the team in the fall.
