Turnovers Cost IU in 38-33 Loss to Maryland

Turnovers Cost IU in 38-33 Loss to Maryland

The Indiana Hoosiers entered Saturday’s home game against the Maryland Terrapins with three straight losses and fresh off of firing their offensive line coach. The coaching staff change was meant to reinvigorate a team that was limping into the back-half of the schedule and hopefully save a once-promising season. While the offensive line looked better at times, IU still struggled to run the ball and three turnovers plus a costly defensive penalty ensured another disappointing loss for the Hoosiers as they fell late to Maryland with a poor fourth quarter. Connor Bazelak threw for 292 yards and Josh Henderson had two touchdowns to lead the Hoosiers in the 38-33 defeat.

Purdue Dismantles Hoosiers to Win Old Oaken Bucket

The outcome of the Old Oaken Bucket game in West Lafayette was never really in doubt as Purdue (8-4) rolled to a 44-7 victory to end IU’s 2021 season in the same fashion it was carried out from the beginning. The loss drops IU to 2-10 on the year and the Hoosiers finished winless in the Big Ten. For a season that began with great expectations, it was a miserable outcome that leaves Tom Allen’s programs with a lot more questions than answers.

Rutgers Trounces Inept Hoosiers 38-3 in Bloomington

Rutgers Trounces Inept Hoosiers 38-3 in Bloomington

A season with high expectations has well and truly hit rock bottom as the Indiana Hoosiers fell to 2-8 with a woeful 38-3 home loss to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (5-5). Indiana came into the contest looking for their first Big Ten victory but the contest began on a sour note and continued spiraling out of control from there. Donaven McCulley and Jack Tuttle both played at quarterback but neither found any traction as the offense floundered and never threatened the Rutgers defense. In fact, IU’s offense did more harm than good. The Hoosiers turned the ball over six times, often setting the Scarlet Knights up with terrific field position. IU also turned it over twice on downs. In total, Rutgers had 320 yards on offense but was very efficient and converted the opportunities given to them by IU’s looseness with the ball. Indiana’s offense has struggled all season and today might have been the worst of a group of toothless performances. IU managed only 262 yards and failed to find the end zone yet again.

Buckeyes Blister the Hoosiers to Drop Indiana to 2-5

The Indiana Hoosiers incredibly difficult schedule continued as they battled their fifth top ten team. On Saturday night, #5 Ohio State invaded Memorial Stadium and the outcome would be the same it’s been every other time the two squads have met since 1988. The Buckeyes completely dismantled a beat-up Indiana Hoosiers squad, leaving Bloomington with a 54-7 victory. Ohio State showcased why they have the nation’s best offense, rarely failing to score on a drive and their defense lived in IU’s backfield, getting 14 tackles for loss and taking advantage of IU’s weak offensive line. The Buckeyes ultimately outgained IU 539-128 and the outcome was never in doubt.
