After signing nineteen in the early signing period, Tom Allen and coaching staff hit the recruiting trail to complete the 2020 signing class. The February signing period Is just a couple weeks away and with the recruiting dead period lifted things are heating up on the trail in college football. The recruiting trail just got a little brighter for head Coach Tom Allen. Despite coming up short in back-to-back 5-7 seasons, Allen and the IU coaching staff have managed to bring in IU’s highest ranked recruiting class in 2019. With a verbal commitment from Indiana’s highest-ranked recruit in history this year, it was clear that Allen is truly building something special. Coming off back-to-back road wins, at Maryland and Saturday’s 38-31 finish at Nebraska, it is a fact that Allen’s game plan for building the Indiana football program is indeed effective.

There is never such a thing as too early when it comes to recruiting no matter what class we’re talking about. The class of ’18 has came to a close pretty much as Tom Allen has gave the Hoosiers an amazing foundation to build upon for the future. The focus of that class was mainly on the defensive end as the team loses a bunch of leaders and production to graduation. Those roles will have to be filled, but that is a topic that Hoosier Huddle has been attacking the past few weeks with the position battle previews. This incoming class may be very good and comes with plenty of potential, but to really take advantage of it, they will need to keep the momentum coming in this year’s class and beyond. That’s why I’ll be taking a shot at pinpointing the top targets for the class of ’19 for Tom Allen and the Hoosiers.
