Quarterback Battle Nearing an End in Bloomington

Quarterback Battle Nearing an End in Bloomington

Written By Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)

"We will be making that decision later this week" is what Tom Allen told reporters on the field of Memorial Stadium on Monday morning as the Hoosiers finished up a light practice.

The quarterback battle has been highly speculated upon over the three-week long fall camp and the Hoosiers want a decision to be made between Peyton Ramsey, Brandon Dawkins and Michael Penix before their mock game on Saturday.

2017 Spring Practice Preview: Offensive Line

2017 Spring Practice Preview: Offensive Line

Written By David Sugarman

While they are often always considered the most important unit on the field you rarely know them all by name. You always hear how games are won and lost in the battle at the line of scrimmage, but for some reason we tend to overlook those names along the offensive line. Today we’re here to change that as we take a look at who’s going to be pushing the pile and protecting whomever the starting quarterback is come August 31st against Ohio State.

Making the Leap: Players Primed to Benefit Most From Bowl Practices

Making the Leap: Players Primed to Benefit Most From Bowl Practices

Written By: TJ Inman (@TJHoosierHuddle)

Making a bowl game means many things: It is a reward for reaching six victories. It is a symbol of continued progress for a program. Perhaps most importantly, it is an opportunity for a team to practice an additional 15 times. Those practices are incredible developmental chances for young players and they help springboard success for the next season. While every player will undoubtedly benefit from the additional practice, we’ve compiled a list of players that could benefit the most from IU’s preparation for the Foster Farms Bowl.

2016 Offensive Line Preview: Once Again The Big Guys Upfront Will Pave the Way For IU's Offense

2016 Offensive Line Preview: Once Again The Big Guys Upfront Will Pave the Way For IU's Offense

Written By Lydia Knoll

Indiana has had some star offensive players the last couple of years, including recent NFL draftees Jordan Howard and Nate Sudfeld just to name a few. But the offensive players that are sometimes overlooked also happen to be the guys who make it possible for players like Howard and Sudfeld to show off their skills. These guys are the building blocks of a steady football program, the offensive linemen.

Indiana’s offensive line allowed the least amount of sacks in the Big Ten last year, allowing only 13 sacks. With the help of their line, they were able to generate the most productive total offense in the Big Ten with a total 6,556 yards, averaging 504.3 yards/game and 6.23 yards every play. The 6,556 total yards also happened to be 746 yards more than the second highest total offense in the Big Ten. The offensive line also opened up holes to allow for the second best rushing offense in the Big Ten averaging 210.46 yards/game. Unfortunately, Indiana has lost one of their best offensive lineman, Jason Spriggs, to the Packers but with a strong core of veterans, including All-American Dan Feeney, this group continues to be the bedrock on which IU builds their offense.

2016 Spring Preview: Offensive Line

2016 Spring Preview: Offensive Line

Coming into the 2016 season, Indiana University will be missing some of it’s strongest players from this past season. The offensive line is no exception, taking a hard hit from loosing key player Jason Spriggs, who has gone from a good three-star high school athlete to a stellar All-American offensive linemen. Spriggs decided at the end of the 2015 season to enter the NFL draft and is expected to be a possible second round draft pick. However, despite losing Spriggs, we will see the return of Spriggs counterpart, Dan Feeney.

2016 National Signing Day Hoosier Profile: OL Grayson Stover

Written By Avery Jones

Grayson Stover (Hudson, FL)
Position: Offensive Line
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 300
Ranking: 3-Star (247 Sports)

Stover is a big offensive tackle from Florida. He had previously committed to two other schools. His first commit was to the University of Virginia back in July of 2015. After decommitting from Virginia, he then committed to University of South Florida on January 20th. A week later, he changed his commitment to Indiana University. Stover had a total of 20 offers. Stover is rated by 247’s Composite ranking as the 130th best player in Florida and the 77th best offensive tackle prospect in the nation.

Stover joins the Indiana football team as one of four linemen in the 2016 recruiting class. However, he happens to be the biggest one, standing at 6-6 and 300 pounds— almost the size of Jason Spriggs. Stover has a lot of potential on the offensive line and is a great addition to Indiana’s already strong offense.

In his senior year, Stover led an offensive line that produced two 1,000-yard rushers for his school. Despite his size, Stover has great foot speed and athletic ability that will help Coach Greg Frey train him to be an excellent offensive lineman. Hopefully he’ll produce similar results at IU as he was able to in his high school career.

BOOM! Hoosier Solidify the Offensive Line With Grayson Stover's Commitment

After securing a #BOOM Wednesday morning from three-star safety Brandon Drayton, it appeared Coach Wilson and company were done adding pieces for the day. That changed late Wednesday night, as offensive lineman Grayson Stover flipped his commitment from South Florida and joined the 2016 class at Indiana.
