The Hoosier Huddle Countdown continues to move closer to the finish line. Now a little over halfway through there are just 48 days until opening night against Ohio State. Today we take a look at defensive lineman, Omari Stringer.

Making a bowl game means many things: It is a reward for reaching six victories. It is a symbol of continued progress for a program. Perhaps most importantly, it is an opportunity for a team to practice an additional 15 times. Those practices are incredible developmental chances for young players and they help springboard success for the next season. While every player will undoubtedly benefit from the additional practice, we’ve compiled a list of players that could benefit the most from IU’s preparation for the Foster Farms Bowl.

Omari Stringer is an outside linebacker from Crete, Illinois. He was ranked a three-star prospect and the 34th top prospect in the state by 247Sports. He was ranked the 16th top prospect by Rivals.com. In high school, Stringer played defensive back for coach John Konecki. He was named to the 2014 All-State and All-Conference selection his senior year, as well as being apart of the 2012 Class 6A state championship team. Stringer had 15 college offers including Wisconsin, Missouri, Illinois, and Minnesota. On June 30th of 2014, he committed to Indiana University.

The fluid athlete from Illinois starred on defense for the Crete-Monee Warriors, leading to a Special Mention on the Champaign-Urbana News-Gazette 2014 Football All-State Team. Stringer possesses both the strength and agility to drop back into coverage or support the run, as seen in his senior highlight tape.
