Indiana will Host 20 Prospects for Junior Day on Sunday

The February signing period Is just a couple weeks away and with the recruiting dead period lifted things are heating up on the trail in college football. Indiana football will host a “junior” day on Sunday January 26th for for 20 prospects (four in the 2022 class and 16 in the 2021 class) according to Matt Weaver of Peegs.com who was the first to publish and confirm the list of prospects.
Sophomores
Brady Allen, QB, Gibson Southern (Ft. Branch, IN) – Allen is already popping up on people’s radars. The six-foot-five, 190-pound sophomore has five offers (Indiana, Cincinnati, Purdue, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin) and will continue to add to that list. The pro-style quarterback completed just over 62-percent of his passes (168-270) for 2,671 yards, 31 touchdowns to only eight interceptions this past season. In his two years behind center, Allen has thrown for 5,109 yards and 60 touchdowns while completing 328-of-552 passes (59.4-percent). Allen previously visited IU last fall for the Northwestern game.
Caden Curry, DL, Center Grove (Greenwood, IN) – The Hoosiers are one of four schools (Boston College, Cincinnati and Iowa) to offer the six-foot-five defensive lineman. According to MaxPreps.com Curry made 100 total tackles (69 solo) and 26.5 tackles for loss in 13 games as he helped get Center Grove to the 6A State Title Game this past season. Curry was took an unofficial visit to Bloomington for Indiana’s 35-0 homecoming win over Rutgers in October.
Demon Moore, OL, R Nelson Snyder (Ft. Wayne, IN) – Besides having an outstanding name for a football player, Demon Moore is a prospect Indiana to keep their eyes on. Moore is listed by 247 Sports as a six-foot-four, 295-pound guard. Moore is having a great winter camp circuit this year according to reports out of local camps.
Joe Strickland, DL, Brebeuf Jesuit (Indianapolis, IN) – Strickland is the number one player in Indiana and 26th best player nationally for the 2022 class according to 247 Sports rankings. He’s a four-star player who already has offers from Indiana, Boston College, Cincinnati, Purdue and Toledo. The six-foot-four 245-pound defensive end was in Bloomington for an unofficial visit when Indiana hosted Northwestern on November 2nd last season. He has one Crystal Ball projection to Notre Dame.
Juniors
Austin Booker, DL, Center Grove (Greenwood, IN) – Booker is another member of a very deep and talented Center Grove program. He’s ranked as a three-star prospect by 247 Sports at defensive end and holds five offers including Indiana, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Iowa and Purdue. Booker’s six-foot-five frame is ideal to add weight and become a producer on the edge at the Big Ten level.
Daylan Carnell, DB, Ben Davis (Indianapolis, IN) – Carnell is another top-10 player in the state and a three-star prospect according to 247 Sports. He has 13 total offers, but appears highest on Indiana, Notre Dame and Purdue. He has two Crystal Ball projections for Notre Dame at the moment. Carnell is a six-foot-one 188-pound corner with good ball skills.
Luke Collinsworth, OL East Central (Brookeville, IN) – Collinsworth is rated at the third best player in Indiana and a four-star prospect by 247 Sports. The six-foot-six 300-pounder is listed as a tackle and is a very sought-after player. He has five offers including Indiana, Ball State, Cincinnati, Kansas and Purdue.
Pat Coogan, OL, Marist (Chicago, IL) – Coogan is a 247 Sports composite three-star prospect and a top-20 player in Illinois. The Hoosiers have had some success recruiting Marist as two current Hoosiers (Gavin McCabe and Turon Ivy) are from the Illinois high school. The six-foot-five, 275-pound tackle has 17 offers as of publication. That list includes Indiana, Duke, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas State, Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon, Stanford, Syracuse and West Virginia of the Power Five.
Kaleb Edwards, Athlete, Dacula (Dacula, GA) – Edwards is a six-foot athlete who can play all over the field, but will probably play defense if he chooses to come to Bloomington. He currently has eight total offers including Indiana, Duke, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Iowa, Iowa State, Louisville and Memphis. He put up impressive stats on both offense and defense in 2019 as accounted for over 1,700 yards of total offense and made 86 tackles and broke up 10 passes on defense.
Larry Harris, DL, Lawrence North (Indianapolis, IN) – Harris is from the same high school as current Hoosier offensive lineman Caleb Jones. He is currently unrated by the recruiting services and has no reported offers, but the six-foot-three 275-pound defensive tackle has the size and ability that should make him appear on someone’s radar soon.
Cooper Jones, DL, Valparaiso (Valparaiso, IN) – Jones is making the trek south to Bloomington on Sunday. He is yet another top-10 in-state prospect that Tom Allen and his staff will have on campus this weekend. Jones currently holds six offers including Indiana, Central Michigan, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio State.
Jordan Lovett, Safety, North Hardin (Radcliff, KY) – Lovett is a top-five player in the state of Kentucky and is rated a three-star prospect by 247 Sports. He has seven offers, but has not been offered by the Hoosiers. His list includes Purdue, Kentucky and Louisville among others.
Donaven McCulley, QB, Lawrence North (Indianapolis, IN) – If you have not heard of Donaven McCulley yet, you will soon. He has helped turn around a dormant Lawrence North program and has been rewarded with a top-five ranking as a player in Indiana. He is rated a four-star prospect by 247 Sports Composite rankings. He is the 10th best dual-threat quarterback in the country as well. He holds 10 offers including Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Missouri, Purdue and Wake Forest of the Power Five. Here are his junior season highlights. McCulley completed 140-of-224 passes for 1,958 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also rushed 115 times for 563 yards and two scores.
Rodney McGraw, DL, Elkhart Central (Elkhart, IN) – McGraw is the sixth best player in Indiana and a three-star prospect according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He is a six-foot-five 223-pound defensive end prospect that hold 13 offers including Indiana, Ball State, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Illinois State, Indiana State, Kansas, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Purdue, Toledo and Western Michigan. He has three Crystal Ball projections for Michigan.
Kyran Montgomery, DL, Pike (Indianapolis, IN) – A top-400 player nationally, Montgomery holds nine offers including Indiana, Iowa, Penn State and Purdue. He made 99 tackles, including 22 for a loss, in 2019 and has 150 career tackles. Here are his 2019 highlights.
Zach Richards, OL, Mooresville (Mooresville, IN) – Richards is a three-star tackle prospect whose only offer right now is Purdue. He is six-foot-three and 296 pounds.
Joshua Sales, OL, Brownsburg (Brownsburg, IN) – Sales is another three-star offensive line prospect that has the frame to play at the next level in the Big Ten. According to his 247 Sports profile he is highest on IU and Purdue.
Carson Steele, RB, Center Grove (Greenwood, IN) – Another All-Name Team candidate for the well represented Trojans. Steele only has one offer (Indiana State), but comes from an excellent program.
Aaron Steinfeldt, TE, Bloomington North (Bloomington, IN) – Steinfeldt is a three-star tight end according to 247 Sports. At six-foot-five he would provide another big target for the Hoosiers. Last season he made 40 catches for 546 yards and five scores.
Theodore Young, LB Dacula (Dacula, GA) – Young is the teammate of Kaleb Edwards who will also be in Bloomington on Sunday. The six-foot-two linebacker made 139 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss during his junior season in 2019.
