It has been a quiet July for the Hoosiers on the recruiting front, but it came alive on Thursday afternoon as three-star athlete Javon Swinton pledged his services to Tom Allen and his staff shortly after being offered a scholarship. The Hoosiers plucked the 6’1” 160-pound athlete out of ACC country. Swinton is out of North Stafford High School in Stafford, Virginia.

Swinton made his announcement via Twitter saying,

“First and foremost, I’d like to thank God for everything he’s done for me. Without him, none of this would be possible. I’d like to thank my mom for being my rock, my backbone, and my inspiration to make it to this point in my life. I want to thank the rest of my family and my closest friends for turning me into the person and athlete I am today. Thank you to all the coaches that instilled knowledge in me during this recruiting process and a huge shoutout to North Nation for showing me nothing but love and support during this journey! With that being said, I’d like to announce my commitment to Indiana University! #IUFB”

Swinton had eight total offers including Indiana, South Carolina, Syracuse, Virginia as well as some other mid-major programs. He is rated a three-star prospect (83.26) by 247 Sports Composite rankings. Swinton is the Hoosiers 12th commitment in the 2020 class which now sits 60th nationally and 12th in the Big Ten.

Swinton is a very good athlete who can play all over the field. He has good speed to go with elusiveness and can either blow by or juke past defenders. He is also part of the North Stafford basketball team. Swinton has the tools to be a weapon down the road for the Hoosiers, he will need to fill out his 6’1” frame.
