Indiana Head Coach Tom Allen and his Hoosiers closed out their fifteenth and final spring practice this past Saturday. Unfortunately, they were unable to put a bow on this portion of the offseason with a spring game we are accustomed to seeing, but the coaching staff was still able to hand out spring practice player awards. The awards were full of familiar player names: Cam Jones, Micah McFadden, Peyton Hendershot, Devon Matthews, among numerous others. Mixed in with these program stars, however, is a player not many Hoosier fans know:

The 2020 version of the Hoosier Huddle Countdown is well underway. The pessimist may say that we still have roughly 75% of this long process to go before the season begins. However, the optimist will say that we are already 25% of the way! Today’s profile, number 74, focuses on a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman: Nick Marozas.

Where Indiana's Offensive Line Stands After the Departure of Coy Cronk

Where Indiana's Offensive Line Stands After the Departure of Coy Cronk

Written by: TJ Inman (@TJHoosierHuddle)

The Indiana Hoosiers entered the 2019 season expecting to be without left tackle Coy Cronk when they took the field in 2020. The senior had started more than 30 games for the Hoosiers and was hoping to wrap up his career by helping the Hoosiers to a bowl berth. However, Cronk was lost for the season to injury during the UConn game. He was able to medically redshirt but instead of returning to Bloomington for his senior season, Cronk is transferring to Iowa. While there was a period of time when it appeared IU would have the luxury of moving Coy Cronk to guard and starting him on the interior of the line, the staff will now need to piece together a unit that still has some returning talent and lots of intriguing pieces to plug into place.

Spring Practice 2018 Position Battle: Offensive Line

Spring Practice 2018 Position Battle: Offensive Line

Written By Alex Compton (@alexncompton)

This is one of the most interesting position groups on the team. There are some anchors that have been through the ringer so far in their careers, coupled with some unknowns. That type of combination can be worrisome, or exciting, depending on how you look at the situation. IU isn’t losing much personnel wise for 2018, so the battles for starting spot this year will be very, very interesting. Certain spots on the line (cough, cough, left side) are already locked down, so essentially it’s a three spot position battle for this upcoming season. Second year offensive line coach Darren Hiller has some options to work with, and Coach Allen’s philosophy of having a multitude of bodies up front to rotate in is starting to take shape.

Nick Marozas, 6’5”, 270 pounds, Oak Lawn, IL (Brother Rice High School), Offensive Tackle, 247Sports Composite Ranking: 3-Stars

Indiana’s 2018 recruiting class will feature a skilled left tackle named Nick Marozas from the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn. Marozas will bring some agility to Indiana’s offensive line group. In fact, Brother Rice head coach Brian Badke convinced Marozas to focus on football despite a budding basketball career. "Nick is a guy who is very athletic and agile," Badke said. "His first love is basketball. I remember saying, 'Nick, your ticket is going to be football.' He took off with it and ran with it." Marozas was the leader behind an offensive line that propelled Brother Rice to average over 45 points per game. He is ranked in the top-100 for offensive linemen per 247Sports Composite, and he has some impressive film on Hudl to back up his rankings.
