The Hoosier Huddle countdown to kickoff has begun. Just 74 days remain until the Hoosiers kickoff the 2019 season in Indianapolis against the Ball State Cardinals. Today we will highlight offensive lineman Nick Marozas.
Nick Marozas (Redshirt Freshman)
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 300 Pounds
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Position: Offensive Lineman
Nick Marozas will serve as one of the first glimpses into the success of Indiana’s strength and conditioning program. Indiana’s athletic department made a hefty financial commitment to David Ballou and Dr. Matt Rhea earlier this offseason based primarily on the belief that they can develop players with the best in the country. Marozas’ is the perfect player to watch in this regard.
Marozas came to Indiana in the 2018 signing class from Brother Rice High School in Chicago. The four-year starter was a 3-star prospect by 247 Sports and held additional offers from Minnesota, Virginia, and Cincinnati. He came into the program a bit undersized for the Big Ten. His 6’5” frame and agility along the line was nice, but at only 265 pounds he could easily be pushed around during conference play. Marozas opted to redshirt his freshman season and focus on adding muscle. As of the spring game, Marozas was up to 300 pounds and adjusting to playing with the additional weight.
“He’s gotten a lot bigger, and those are guys [Marozas along with fellow redshirt freshman tackle Aidan Rafferty] that we’re counting on to develop,” said Coach Allen after the spring game. “They’re not quite ready yet, but they will be…that’s the kind of growth we’re looking for.”
Marozas will continue to add weight without sacrificing agility this season and should be a great addition to future Indiana offensive lines.
