Tyrique Tucker and the Hoosiers Have Been Feeding off of the Crowd's Energy

The Hoosiers are 8-0 and the fans are absolutely loving it. Memorial Stadium sold out their last two games (Nebraska and Washington) and has sold out the remaining two games against Michigan and Purdue which is a single season record for the program and matched the number of sellouts from 2016-2023 (four). Not only that, but the city of Bloomington has hosted Big Noon Kickoff and College GameDay in the last two weeks and the fans have been reveling in the glory. It’s a drastic change from how the Hoosiers first three home games went, barely being able to fill up the stadium, but the crowd may not realize how important they are to the team.

Indiana is now 8-0 after defeating the Washington Huskies and have continued to dominate on the scoreboard. However, there were a lot of worries about how the offense would fare without their star quarterback Kurtis Rourke. With Rourke out and Tayven Jackson in, some people didn’t think the Hoosiers would be able to perform like they used to, but the defense really stood up today and shouldered the weight of the team, especially the sophomore transfer from JMU, D’Angelo Ponds.

2024 Position Preview – Defensive Back Group is Revamped Through the Portal

Written by: TJ Inman

The past few seasons for the Indiana secondary have not been kind. After a lot of hype and excitement surrounding a returning young core, the potential was never realized and Indiana gave up average passer ratings of 143.62 in 2023 and a shockingly bad 152.42 in 2022. Curt Cignetti and defensive coordinator Bryant Haines retained some of IU’s returning secondary players and hit the transfer portal to upgrade at both cornerback and safety. IU needs to create more takeaways in the secondary and make life more difficult for opposing passing attacks.
