Hoosiers Gain Commitment From 'Well-Rounded' 3-Star DB Aubrey Burks

The Indiana Hoosiers added Aubrey Burks, a three-star defensive back out of Auburndale, Florida (Auburndale HS), on Friday afternoon. Burks is the 10th commitment in Indiana’s 2021 recruiting class. Burks, rated a three-star (85.93) prospect by 247 Sports Composite rankings, is listed at 6’ and 180 pounds and projects as a husky in Indiana’s defense. Burks had 32 offers, but picked IU over Louisville, Pittsburgh, South Florida and West Virginia. He was recruited to IU by safeties coach Jason Jones and special teams coordinator Kasey Teegarden.

NCAA DI Council Extends Recruiting Dead Period For All Sports

The Division I Council extended the recruiting dead period in all sports through Aug. 31. The Council met virtually Thursday afternoon.

The full Council and the Council Coordination Committee will continue to review the recruiting dead periods on a regular basis. A dead period precludes all in-person recruiting. Phone calls and correspondence can continue to occur.

Williams, out of Westover High School in Albany, Georgia made his announcement on Twitter. He chose the Hoosiers over Power Five offers from Alabama, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Tennessee, Wake Forest and Washington State. According to 247 Sports, Williams’ decision came down to Indiana and Louisville.
