The Hoosiers are staying hot on the recruiting trail as Tom Allen and his staff have landed Larry Smith III, a three-star defensive back prospect according to 247Sports Composite rankings and a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, out of Oakleaf High School in Jacksonville, Florida. Smith III projects as a safety at the next level. Smith III is listed at five-foot-ten and 170 pounds. He made his announcement on Friday afternoon on Twitter:

I would like to thank my family for guiding me through this humbling process and my peers for staying by my side every step of the way. I would also like to thank my coaches & trainers for believing in me, without them and God none this would be possible, with that being said I will be committing to Indiana University, what’s understood don’t have to be explained #GoHoosiers

The Hoosiers were one of six schools to offer Smith III, the list included Power Five schools Duke, North Carolina and Ole Miss as well as Group of Five schools Arkansas State and Charlotte. Smith III is the fifth commitment in the Hoosiers 2021 class. The class is currently ranked 34th nationally and 10th in the Big Ten according to 247 Sports.
