Central Catholic's Coy Cronk Commits to the Cream and Crimson

Want to be developed into an All-American offensive lineman? Well Indiana is the school for you! That's the Hoosiers latest and greatest recruiting pitch they can sell to potential prospects, and it's certainly not falling on deaf ears. On Monday afternoon Coy Cronk of Lafayette, Indiana committed to the program on the rise in Bloomington.
The 6-foot-5, 272-pound offensive lineman recently visited the southern most Big Ten school and really liked what he saw.
"I think my official visit a couple weeks back definitely sold it for me. I felt really comfortable with the coaching staff and it just felt right for me."
Cronk hopes to continue his winning ways at IU, coming off senior season where he saw action at both linebacker and offensive lineman on Central Catholic's Class A state championship team.
Because his senior campaign extended well beyond the regular season, he did not get an adequate opportunity to check out all of his potential suitors. Even though the Hoosiers had been in the driver's seat for quite sometime, it wasn't until he made a trip to Iowa State did he know for sure Bloomington was where he wanted to be.
"But I hadn’t had the chance to be recruited and see some other places because my high school season went so long with us winning state, so I went to Iowa State this past weekend to have something to compare to Indiana and after that visit there wasn’t a doubt in my mind which school I needed to go to."
The opportunity to play in one of the country's premier conferences was also goal of Cronk's, and he was happy that his hard work helped make that happen.
"It is definitely a dream come true. To just have one offer to play college football is awesome, but to be in a position where I can go to IU and play in the Big Ten is so surreal and it is hard to believe. I almost have to pinch myself because it is a dream I’ve had and it came true. It just shows that hard work does pay off."
The three-star prospect selected Indiana over offers from Iowa State, Illinois, Vanderbilt, Nevada, Ball State, Miami (OH), and Wyoming.
