Class of 2016 Wide Receiver Big Board

In our third Prospects Big Board we will take a look at wide receivers. The Hoosiers added five pass catchers in this last class and enter next season with zero scholarship seniors at the position, so it remains to be seen how many they might look to add in this upcoming cycle. Much like running back, the Hoosiers can leverage the fact that the team has been able to get players at the position in the NFL, like Denver's Cody Latimer. So which potential route-runners could decide that Bloomington is the best place for them to continue their playing careers?

The Hoosiers coaching staff was out in full force on the recruiting trail this week, traveling all over the country to get a closer look at potential prospects. College football is currently in the midst of its spring evaluation period, April 15th to May 31st, an opportunity for coaches to go watch athletes compete, visits their high schools, and contact the athlete and their parents via letter or telephone. While Indiana did not pick up any new commits, there was not shortage of recruiting news this week as Wilson and his staff extended multiple offers this week to recruits of the 2016 and '17 classes. Among those were at least three athletes from the Lone Star State, including Paddy Fisher, Brayden Stringer, and Taylor Perry. This past week also saw the commitment of some Hoosier targets to conference rivals. Those corresponding tweets and more are below.

The Hoosiers 2016 recruiting class is now off and running with the commitment of Ohio quarterback Peyton Ramsey. His announcement came on Tuesday night via twitter, just moments before I posted my article meant to reassure fans that the slow start in recruiting was no cause for worry. The Hoosiers also appear to be in good shape with Ohio's Chawntez Moss and Missouri's Roderick Campbell Jr. Indiana also extended offers this week to defensive ends Michael Boykin and AJ Epenesa. The Hoosiers hosted two talented running back prospects on Thursday night, 2016's Kiante Enis and 2017's Kurt Taylor. Those corresponding tweets and more are below.

It's been fairly quiet on the recruiting front this week, however, we did find out that Ohio quarterback Peyton Ramsey is close to a decision and another school has drawn even with Indiana and Boston College. Four-star safety Craig Watts named a top 10, which included the Hoosiers among four other Big Ten teams. Also, Nick Starkel, quarterback from Texas, committed to Oklahoma State last evening. While the Lone Star state quarterback did not have an offer from the Hoosiers, he did at one time report interest from Indiana. Florida quarterback Augie DeBiase had made a visit to Okie State earlier in the week, but with Starkel's commitment, if there was mutual interest between DeBiase and the Cowboys, it has likely passed now. Those corresponding tweets and more are below.

This last week has been a busy one for recruiting, especially at the quarterback position. Two IU targets, Avon's Brandon Peters and North Carolina's Austin Kendall committed elsewhere this week. The Hoosiers also extended an offer to a dual threat quarterback from the Sooner State, Terry Wilson. Also, during our discussion with Rivals' Matt Weaver on this week's Inside the Huddle we found out that Ohio's Peyton Ramsey has Indiana in his top two along with Boston College.  Below are those corresponding tweets and more that could have an impact on recruiting for the Hoosiers.
