That type of stuff doesn't register for me.

Really? It's not like I'm an interior designer or anything. It's pretty egregious.

And to be clear, it's not a partisan/political bias thing. If a Democrat wins in '28 and puts up black light posters and lava lamps in the Oval Office, I'll call that out as tacky too.

@ohio-guy You're not an interior decorator but he is.  He's done some of the decorating himself including using super glue to festoon the Oval with gold trim and gold appliques.

The only thing missing is a grand piano and a candelabra.

He's destroyed the place, literally and figuratively.

I LOVE Greek mythology

I presume you particularly love fictional Greek mythology with Hollywood DEI injections.

can't keep your politics out of 1 thread?

@jdb Particulary dumb from a guy who hasn’t seen it. It’s funny almost all the other boards have dozens of posts and there is usually only one or two dumba$$ that can’t discuss the movie. I’m not surprised it’s the first response here. Bunch of bozos.

What boards are you even talking about? Sounds like you should spend more time there if you are going to get your panties in a bunch.

Says the snowflake crying about DEI.

Some of the clowns here acting like they know anything about soccer at a professional level is like Trump acting like he knows anything about being president.

Just saying…

Getting back the main discussion in this thread, there’s a subtle difference between homophily and xenophobia in terms of a white man’s mindset.

Trump’s attitude toward brown people is rooted in xenophobia.

@jdb’s attitude toward historical artistic liberty is rooted in homophily.

@bradstevens the ball would go flying off their feet while harry relied on iq, skill, touch, to position them wherever he wished.

Usain Bolt grew up playing soccer and cricket in Jamaica before focusing on track and field, later attempting a professional soccer career with clubs like the Central Coast Mariners and Borussia Dortmund.  he had no touch.  it aint about the speed

I watched some of those world cup games. I saw what the defender gets to do on defense with his hands. If you think Bo Jackson couldn't stop Harry Kane from going anywhere, you don't know Bo.

Give Bo a couple of weeks playing around with a soccer ball, and he'd pick it up.  Not difficult. There's a reason 5 year olds can play soccer, but can't hit a moving, lobbed baseball with a bat.  One is easy, the other is hard.

@bar-down I'm not sure why all these people think top athletes from other sports would walk onto a soccer field and dominate. All this talk made me think of Chad Ochocinco. He's actually decent at soccer, but looked stupid during a Real Madrid practice when he was in his NFL prime shape:

Because Sylvester Stallone did in it against the German national team.   Tape don't lie:

they can't play. 5 years are signed up.  they aren't playing.  that's why usain bolt who would leave bo in the dust couldn't play.  you're focusing ont eh wrong things.  the truth is very simple.  maybe a couple million are trying to be baseball players after they crap out of football and basketball.  250 million are trying to be soccer players.  bo jackson could practice all day every day his entire life and he wouldn't be able to do this.  spain and brazil.  that dna isn't in anyone born in mississippi georgia or anywhere else in america

Oh, you don't think Bo can kick a ball?  Fine, I'll sub in Andy Reid for him.

@bradstevens i would be absolutely shocked if bo would be good.  with 250 million trying i have no idea why he would be good.  i'd highly doubt it.  would he have the strength?  balance?  agility?  speed?  absolutely.  so would barry sanders.  he'd have all those things.  unfortunately that isn't the most important part.  it's what is in the feet.  humor me and watch this.  the practice, dna, skill, luck, it takes to have this kind of mastery is exceptionally rare.  i have no idea why it would be in bo sanders' feet.  because it's not something you can just practice and do. it's touch.  vision.  spatial awareness.  how to weight a ball.  again there's no reason to believe bo could do any of those things.

Looks like the Collins kids hanging out on Kirkwood and playing hackey sack.

@bradstevens just thinking about going out for a sport knowing that the competition is quite literally the entire world I can’t help but be in awe.  The word that keeps coming to me:  brave.  @snarlcakes do you feel like soccer players are the bravest of all?

I giggle every time a sports announcer talks about athletes’ bravery. I love using it with soccer players.
