fwiw - there are historical inaccuracies. It's a legend/myth set during the late bronze age collapse. So, ancient historical fiction.

Depicting history in film is more a responsibility of art direction than it is casting.

So ... lets look at historical inaccuracies..

  • The armor depicted is incorrect and would not be used for hundreds of years after the story takes place.
  • Missing are the feather headdresses worn by common warriors, and the boars tusk helmets worn by the richer warriors.
  • The shields used were most likely incorrect. Round shields were present late in that era but more likely they should have been figure eight shaped.
  • The ships depicted are incorrect. They're closer to white people DEI ships used in a much later era.
  • The key prop of the story/film is incorrect. The Bow of Ulysses should have been a palintonos bow. Which are very hard to string. Anyone of moderate strength could string the the bow used.
  • I suspect the clothing was incorrect, especially the dresses, but since I'm not an effeminate fashionista like one noted weirdo, I'll let him/her determine that.
  • fwiw - The sword used is correct for the culture and time period, so at least they got that right.

I just wanted to mention some of the historical inaccuracies that people bitching about historical inaccuracy have never once mentioned. It's almost if they've never read the story, have no clue and don't GAFF about the history of that era, haven't seen the movie and just want to bitch about black people, trans people and the oppression they suffer from being an old fat ass chronically malcontent white male....

The Bronze Age Collapse is an interesting study. Climate events, draught, famine, mass migration, war. Disruption of trade routes causing economic collapse, invaders coming from the sea and every major power in the western world either disappearing entirely or barely surviving in a highly diminished state.

Good post!

Ha! ... Better than the highly efficient dumby emoji representing maga reasoning in graphic form?

I think not.
