@carramrod mlb is about as much a global game as pickleball lmao. No one gives a shit about baseball outside of a few tiny countries and the South.

the best players in the world in soccer have come from Africa, South America, Europe.  It’s the world’s game. Does baseball even have a world competition?

@jdb I've enjoyed Jackie Chan movies and I'm not embarrassed to admit that. I cringe a bit and want to issue an apology to foreign dignitaries on behalf of all Americans when I see Trump's decorating in the White House.

If anyone wasn't entertained by the Rush Hour series, the problem is them.

@bradstevens a couple guys. And that those two could do both doesn’t say much for baseball

Both Deion Sanders and Bo Jackson could play in any soccer league in the world and dominate.  LOLing at a guy like Harry Kane trying to compete against Bo Jackson.

@bradstevens the ball would go flying off their feet while harry relied on iq, skill, touch, to position them wherever he wished.

Usain Bolt grew up playing soccer and cricket in Jamaica before focusing on track and field, later attempting a professional soccer career with clubs like the Central Coast Mariners and Borussia Dortmund.  he had no touch.  it aint about the speed and athleticism.  usain would leave deon in the dust on a 110 yard pitch

That type of stuff doesn't register for me.

Really? It's not like I'm an interior designer or anything. It's pretty egregious.

And to be clear, it's not a partisan/political bias thing. If a Democrat wins in '28 and puts up black light posters and lava lamps in the Oval Office, I'll call that out as tacky too.

@ohio-guy You're not an interior decorator but he is.  He's done some of the decorating himself including using super glue to festoon the Oval with gold trim and gold appliques.

The only thing missing is a grand piano and a candelabra.

He's destroyed the place, literally and figuratively.

@bradstevens oh they all compete.  they just lack the dna of south america and europe.

from ai.  pretty accurate

Soccer is more than raw athletic power because success relies heavily on technical mastery, spatial intelligence, and tactical coordination rather than sheer size or speed. Why Soccer Transcends Raw PhysicalityTechnical Skill Over Size: Many of the game's greatest players, like Lionel Messi, succeed through precise ball control, a low center of gravity, and vision rather than imposing physical statures.Cognitive Speed: Elite play demands split-second decision-making, spatial awareness, and anticipation while under extreme physical fatigue.Systemic Culture: Global dominance comes from deep-rooted developmental pathways and tactical immersion from early childhood, not just drafting fast or strong individuals

I watched some of those world cup games. I saw what the defender gets to do on defense with his hands. If you think Bo Jackson couldn't stop Harry Kane from going anywhere, you don't know Bo.

Give Bo a couple of weeks playing around with a soccer ball, and he'd pick it up.  Not difficult. There's a reason 5 year olds can play soccer, but can't hit a moving, lobbed baseball with a bat.  One is easy, the other is hard.

they can't play. 5 years are signed up.  they aren't playing.  that's why usain bolt who would leave bo in the dust couldn't play.  you're focusing ont eh wrong things.  the truth is very simple.  maybe a couple million are trying to be baseball players after they crap out of football and basketball.  250 million are trying to be soccer players.  bo jackson could practice all day every day his entire life and he wouldn't be able to do this.  spain and brazil.  that dna isn't in anyone born in mississippi georgia or anywhere else in america

If you admit Bo Jackson would not be good at you r “sport,” then it is not a sport.
