Every other board I’m on has huge threads about this movie. Wanted to get more input than we see on the offtopic board. So surely some of you have seen it. What do you think? I have t seen theaters this full since Barbenheimer. I saw it last week on IMAX, but will get tickets to see it again on our 70 foot screen. It’s sold out for several weeks.
I LOVE Greek mythology but I had forgotten so much. This is going to inspire me to do some more reading. I thought it was really well done, and even though it’s 3 hours, it didn’t seem too long. Lots and lots of action obviously. I thought everyone involved carried their part well, obviously the leads, but also Robert Pattinson played a good bad guy. Cinematography, sound and score were excellent ( be prepared, it’s really loud. It will be winning lots of awards.
I LOVE Greek mythology
I presume you particularly love fictional Greek mythology with Hollywood DEI injections.
This is on our list and can't wait to see it. I keep hearing that it's got to be seen at an IMAX 15/70mm to be fully appreciated.
Last flick we saw was Disclosure Day which, from my perspective, didn't live up to the hype. I'm convinced this one does, though!
What is "fictional" Greek mythology? Is their Non fiction Greek "mythology"? Or is this sort of like a "fictional" bugs bunny carton? I tell ya, that time they panted daffy as a Mallard duck had me fucking livid...I LOVE Greek mythology

@jdb Particulary dumb from a guy who hasn’t seen it. It’s funny almost all the other boards have dozens of posts and there is usually only one or two dumba$$ that can’t discuss the movie. I’m not surprised it’s the first response here. Bunch of bozos.
@big-ryan IMAX 70 just opened tickets for second week of August. Sold out until then. I didn’t love Disclosure Day either. Seems like a lot of people were hoping for this to fail, for some reason, but it’s definitely not.
@mrhighlife Yeah Helen is the daughter of Zeus, while disguised as a swan. So you know this is all nonfiction. 😎 God forbid you deviate from what she has been pictured as.
Seeing it tomorrow on the next IMAX down from 70mm (which was sold out well into August). If I like it as well as other Nolan movies, I'll see on 70mm as well.
Hoping if there are present-day allusions, it is done tastefully and not ham-fisted. I've read that the biggest problem for classicists is that it is reads Odysseus through a Christian lens. Be an interesting comparison, if true.
So you must have seen it. What are these DEI injections and did you leave the theater in disgust?I LOVE Greek mythology

I'm going to see it tomorrow. Reviews from the critics and the audience are super high.
@bradstevens Some people did not like that it was modern dialogue, but that didn’t bother me. Maybe one or two lines a little clunky.
That won't bother me at all. I was referring to trying to make some morality tale that is related to our modern political times.@bradstevens Some people did not like that it was modern dialogue, but that didn’t bother me. Maybe one or two lines a little clunky.
Pattinson is a good actor. Check out The Lighthouse with Willem Dafoe if you like him.Every other board I’m on has huge threads about this movie. @bradstevens Oh I don’t think so, unless I totally missed it.

It was likely done for awards season, the wokees LOVE it when poc, alphabets, etc. are given roles where the characters are white, & apparently there are DEI quotas for Oscar eligibility. Matt Damon & Scarlett Johanson shouldn’t be playing characters written as Asian in other movies, & Lupita N’yongo shouldn’t be playing a character described as blonde haired & fair skinned. Can you imagine if Ellen Page played Kunta Kinte in Roots?
