The Indiana Hoosiers big summer continues as they land four-star wide receiver Omar Cooper out of Lawrence North in Indianapolis. Cooper is ranked as the 214th best prospect nationally and the fifth best in Indiana for the 2022 class according to 247 Sports Composite rankings.

Cooper has long been an IU target and the Hoosiers edged out West Virginia for the services of the talented wide receiver. He was also the main target of current Hoosier quarterback Donovan McCulley. Last season Cooper showed off his big play ability by making 38 receptions for 1,101 yards and 13 touchdowns, that’s nearly 30 yards a reception.

The rising senior is coming off an ACL injury from late in the 2020 season, but has been on the road to recovery and should be able to start the season for Lawrence North.

Cooper is versatile and explosive in the passing game, something that the Hoosier offense needs more of, especially with the attrition at the wide receiver position in the near future. He can play inside or out and has a shot to work his way on the field early in his career. He has the ability to fake out defenders with his footwork and can out jump defenders in the end zone. Cooper is also not afraid to mix it up in the run game as well as a blocker and shows tremendous instincts to help his quarterback out when the pocket collapses. He also returned kicks.

Cooper is the 10th commitment in the Hoosiers 2022 class which sits at fifth in the Big Ten and 24th nationally.
