The 2021 countdown continues! The Hoosiers will take on the No. 16 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes on September 4, less than 61 days away! Players and coaches are working hard to prepare for the upcoming season. Today we profile Offensive Lineman, Ricky Tamis a redshirt Sophomore out of Miami Beach, Florida. @ricky_tamis

Name: Ricky Tamis

Hometown: Miami Beach, Florida

Position: Offensive Lineman

Year: Redshirt Sophomore

Height/Weight: 6-3/ 301

Out of the Sunshine State, Tamis walked on to the Hoosier football program during 2019 fall camp. That year, Tamis earned Scout Team player of the week honors against Penn State. At Miami Beach High School, Tamis was a two-year captain and made Blue-Grey-All American.

Tamis was a preferred walk-on meaning they could not offer him a scholarship but could offer him a spot on the team. He was awarded Offensive Scout Player of the Year for his scouting efforts in the 2020 season, and was also Academic All-Big Ten selection last year.

With the new NIL rules, Tamis was one of the first to strike a deal, as he was one of the few IU football players selected as a Barstool Sports Athlete. competitive O-Lineman, Tamis will look to gain athleticism while maintaining a solid 300 pounds weight. That said, he will look to get some snaps this upcoming season.
