Week four of the XFL took place over the weekend with three former Indiana Hoosiers football players in action.

The Dallas Renegades fell to 2-2 on the season after a one-score loss to the Houston Roughnecks. In the game, former IU linebacker Tegray Scales racked up two solo tackles and one assisted tackle, bring his season total to 18. Scales also has one sack in four games so far.

Defensive lineman Bobby Richardson tallied two solo tackles, including one for a loss. The ex-Hoosier added one quarterback hurry, one pass deflection, and an assisted tackle. Richardson helped the Tampa Bay Vipers pitch a shutout for their first win of the season, beating the DC Defenders 25-0.

On the losing end of that game, Simmie Cobbs suited up for the Defenders. Cobbs was unable to record a stat on offense, but he added one tackle on special teams.

The XFL season has six more weeks of regular season play followed by a final four playoff system in mid-April.

The XFL kicked off on Saturday, February 8th, renewing an old idea with a modern twist. Eight professional teams were assembled to play a 10-week regular season. The final four teams play face off in a semifinal, followed by the championship game. The league is divided into two divisions with the Seattle Dragons, LA Wildcats, Dallas Renegades, and Houston Roughnecks making up the West. The New York Guardians, St. Louis Battlehawks, DC Defenders, and Tampa Bay Vipers round out the East. The Indiana Hoosiers have three former football players participating in the XFL. Former star wide receiver Simmie Cobbs plays for the DC Defenders. Cobbs recorded one catch for 14 yards as the Defenders defeated Seattle 31-19.

The All-Kevin Wilson Team After Five Years At IU: Part II

The All-Kevin Wilson Team After Five Years At IU: Part II

While the Hoosiers defense continues to be a work in progress, as evidenced by team turning to its third defensive coordinator in four seasons, there have still been plenty of notable players to see action on that side of the ball. Continuing our All-Kevin Wilson team, here’s our look at the top players to see action for Indiana on the defensive side of the ball. Again, this list only includes players that were recruited by Coach Wilson, both scholarship and walk-ons are eligible. Also, no consideration was given to strong versus weak-side, and we utilized a 4-3 alignment.

Rahrig, Richardson, and Wynn picked up by NFL teams

Written By: Nick Holmes (@HoosierHolmes)

While Tevin Coleman was the lone Hoosier to get drafted this past weekend, he is far from the only Indiana player to get a shot to play on Sundays. Just hours after the draft was completed three Hoosiers were snatched up as priority free agents on Saturday night. The talented speedster Shane Wynn will be joining Coleman down in Atlanta and looks like he will be competing for time as a kick returner and slot receiver. Former walk-on Collin Rahrig will be headed to Pittsburgh to continue his underdog story. And Florida native Bobby Richardson is headed back south, now to Louisiana where he will be joining the Saints.

Indiana's Tevin Coleman Named 1st Team All-Big Ten

Tevin Coleman's historic season was good enough to be named first team All-Big Ten by the media and coaches

Tevin Coleman's historic season was good enough to be named first team All-Big Ten by the media and coaches

On Monday night the Hoosiers’ Tevin Coleman was honored as one of two running backs named first team All-Big Ten. Coleman, who became the 18th rusher in FBS history to reach the 2,000-yard mark in the season finale Saturday, joins Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon as the top running back in the conference.

Coleman, a junior, had the best season ever by an Indiana University running back. He set the school record for rushing yards in a single season with 2,036 on 270 carries. That is a mind blowing 7.5 yards per carry. Coleman also scored 15 touchdowns. What may be even more impressive is that he put up these numbers while the Hoosiers did not have much of a passing game after the sixth game of the season. For his career Coleman has 3,219 yards rushing and 28 touchdowns. Coleman is also a finalist for the Doak Walker Award given to the nation's top running back.

Several other Hoosiers garnered conference awards as senior safety Mark Murphy was named the Big Ten’s Sportsmanship award winner while safety Antonio Allen, offensive linemen Dan Feeney, Colin Rahrig, and Jason Spriggs, as well as wide receiver Shane Wynn and defensive lineman Bobby Richardson all received Big Ten Honorable Mentions.
