First Quarter Grades: Indiana Hoosiers Defense

While we may be only three games into the season, it also happens to be the quarter mark of the 2013 slate. Isn’t it amazing how much quicker time flies when football is around?! Well, with that unfortunately being the case, we decided it was time to take a look back at the opening trio of games that the Hoosiers have played.

As opposed to doing a boring breakdown of each game, we decided to spice things up a bit and give a first quarter report card to each unit of the team. Yesterday we kicked things off with the offense, but don’t worry, we’re back today grading the defense and tomorrow we will even take a look at special teams and the coaches.

Game Wrap-up and Reaction: Week 3 Bowling Green

What a difference a week can make.  After getting torched for 41 points against Navy the Hoosier defense came out on a mission and did not allow an offensive touchdown.  The Hoosiers faced the Bowling Green Falcons with their season in the balance in Week 3 and proved they can overcome a poor performance in Week 2.

Why They Played:  The Hoosiers and Falcons meet for the first time on the gridiron as part of a home-and-home series.  Indiana always has had a good relationship with the MAC and plays at least one school from the conference every year.

What The Game Meant:

This was a must win game for the Hoosiers.  Not a should win or a could win, but a real must win game.  After falling to Navy, the Hoosier’s bowl hopes rested on today’s game against the Falcons.  Kevin Wilson deemed it a big enough game to break out the Chrome helmets a week early.
