Hockey game was great, the outcome even better. As for the curling fans, I of course will always root for the USA but I just can't get into curling. Reminds me of croquet or bocce or shuffleboard...something that would be played at a Senior Citizens Center, except on ice.

That was high level hockey. I sure enjoyed that game.
Canada's whines about 'we outplayed you' reminded me of Finland complaining the refs may have cost them the game. Salty tears just make the victor even happier I think. Canada controlled the second period, I didn't think anybody dominated the first and the third. And goalie play counts too, Canadians. Not that your guy wasn't great, but our guy stoned you.

Agreed on all counts. In some ways, it may actually be worse than legitimate referee criticism. It was even at first, but Canada definitely outplayed the U.S. in the 2nd and 3rd periods and certainly outshot the U.S. But, like some of the Blackhawks Stanley Cup runs, outshooting a team doesn't always equate to winning. I personally wish the U.S. had thrown more pucks on the net instead of trying to be cute with passes, but they got the job done.
Also, Mackinnon is a huge bitch. Whining about how they outplayed the U.S. after he couldn't hit a wide-open net is pathetic. Take some accountability.

I have supported a balanced budget amendment for 40 years now.
I am for lower spending overall, not wasting dollars, and spending money ways providing long term returns on investment. Take the 37 billion dollars allocated to new immigrant detention facilities in the past year and you'd fund all academic biomedical research for decades. Take the money Trump spends on golf trips and you might cover academic biomedical research. There's bad spending, there's awful spending, and there is prudent spending. Eliminate the 1st two and you have more room for the 3rd, with a MUCH lower overall cost.
