These detention centers might end up losing GOP everything they've gained the last few years. I know more than a few people that voted for Trump, and other GOP downticket candidates like Braun, that are 100% off the wagon because of the things ICE is doing. They're committing one of the worst political errors possible, taking a winning issue and turning it into a losing one...and they're doing it unbelievably fast. There aren't enough "worst of the worsts" to make up for the stories like the one with the Purdue student.
I don't think there's anything wrong with actively searching for undocumented people, especially the ones that aren't following our laws. But how you go about that, and what you do when you suspect you've found one... that's where ICE is losing very large chunks of 2024 GOP voters.

It was the perversion of the asylum process chiefly that was the worst aspect of Biden's immigration policy. They set three consecutive records for asylum applications. Most of those people are in the backlog and will either end up unauthorized or be given asylum under false pretenses. They created a frickin mobile app to facilitate more asylum claims.
Trump's genius is not entertaining nonsense asylum claims.
Also, post covid, Biden they set records for refugees admitted since 2000, even more so than stemmed from the terror wars under Bush.
