Because I’ll ask whoever I want whatever I want without concern for a poster such as you.
What??? Are you saying my opinion of you is of no concern? Say it ain't so!

ICE is being sloppy and cavalier, and so there are many cases popping up where they wrongfully retain people with valid visas, green cards, or even US citizenship. Looks worse when they have no uniforms, unmarked cars, won't show ID, and won't tell detainees what they are charged with or where they are being taken.
The mistakes will be highlighted and parroted as the norm, even if they are not, just as an immigrant who goes on a murder spree gets the headlines, whereas your citizen who more commonly goes on such sprees goes relatively unnoticed.
The gestapo tactics make the mistakes hard to ignore and generate sympathy for the accused.
I'm all for tightened immigration, but the issue seems to be respect for due process and ICE professionalism, rather than rapid sloppy and cavalier quota filling and Proud Boy-like thuggishness.

I’m so ashamed of our country. I’m so ashamed of the people in it. It’s so embarrassing traveling abroad. I do everything possible to not look American. We take pleasure in causing pain. Our “ Christian” country.
@mcm666 Because there was never a problem before the last 4 years, right?
@stollcpa Yes because our backass word state is a barometer for the whole country. Uh huh. The state that’s called first every year.

I spent a few weeks in Germany at the height of the Iraqi war backlash in 2006. I was one of 2 Americans in a group of 40+ coworkers from all over the globe. I decided to make sure I wasn't going to shy away from all of it. I smiled, made sure I was curious and engaging with everyone else, did my best to try to learn some of their languages, genuinely got to know them. Still correspond with a few of them. Be the change you want to be is what I think the phrase is that you're looking for instead of the shame you say you feel.
Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

He was in Scotland last week, not Ireland.

No, it didn't. The vast majority of immigrants have been here since before Biden took office.
@goat of course it did.
Border officials encountered 11 million unauthorized migrants attempting to enter the US between October 2019 and June 2024.
those astonishing figures took place as a direct result of policy from the biden administration. but for that policy we would not be doing the sweeps that we are today.
@zeke4ahs lmao those countries are an absolute embarrassment at this point. you should hold your head proud.

And most of those unauthorized migrants are not here. Even under Biden, the vast majority were sent away.
