@dbmhoosier Obviously I have no clue exactly how its going to play out... but I think one thing EVERYONE should consider... Since Trump entered on to the scene, these polls have often been off in favor of Democrats. Trump isn't actually on the ballot, but his impact is now firmly felt on every single ballot that will be cast on Tuesday. And early polling, and even exit polling, has really never been able to accurately capture the extent of "Trump/Maga" voters. I still think there are more than a significant number of voters that are "embarrassed" to admit they're voting for Trump, or Trump like/Maga candidates... but 100% are.
So... while I do suspect a "blue wave" on Tuesday. I don't suspect it will be nearly as tidal in nature, as the narrative seems to be establishing. They'll take the house, and they'll challenge the Senate, maybe eek it out. And I guess that will have tidal wave like impacts. But I just don't see it playing out how the narrative is saying it will. Honestly, I don't really want it to. I don't trust a fully Democrat controlled Congress to actually start trying to solve the issues most of us are actually living with and facing. I think they'll likely pick back up the pitchforks, and head to the White House, day 1. And largely ignore the actual reasons why they were voted in.
Actually thats not a bad post. Im not saying conceal our historical warts. But i am saying make them historically relevant. Dont amplify them for their own sake.
FDR is a good example. Many place him among our too 5 best presidents. As historians discuss him, they dont discuss that he was a despicable racist who banned Jessie Owens from the white house ceremony honoring the 1936 olympians. Why? Be because, I suppose, they dont see his racism as historically relevant. Same for Thomas Jefferson. I think his declaration of independence is one of the greatest and most important documents in world history. Yet many cannot discuss that without also mentioning TJ slept with a slave.
The United States is overall a force for good in the world, like our role in crushing the Nazis. Many wont discuss that point without discussing our historical warts, relevant or not.

One, Trump is not on the ballot. Second, only certain pollsters have been off in the Trump era. The ones that have been pretty close to spot on (Baris, Mark Mitchell, etc) all show double digit leads for Dems on the generic ballot and the early vote supports this.
@dbmhoosier We'll see... I think a split Congress is the best thing for our country, right now. So I'm hoping for 50/50 Senate, and Democrats taking the house. That sends at least some people in the GOP a necessary message. But it shouldn't empower the left to the point where they aren't "auditioning for 28", for the next 2 years. We need all of them to feel like they're in contract years. And to actually start doing the jobs we need them to be doing.
You should, once in your life, day drink and watch a cricket match. Top tier talent in the stands and grounds as well.watching cricket
You don't need to know what's going on.
The current Democrat party is hideous on the far wing of it. The moderate part is OK. Probably a 20-80 split of absolute nuts to reasonable men and women. Ok, well, I'll go 40-60 nutjobs to reasonable people, only because I have to put several ladies I know (sisters) who are very reasonable and intelligent but if there's an R in front of somebody's name they can't even discuss politics they just hate. It's retarded. So I tell them it doesn't matter what ideas and actual principles somebody votes for, they just vote D no matter what. And that type of shit from any voter harms us all.
But...
Not a very religious guy but I should probably pray for an absolute Republican beatdown like no other. The current Republican assholes - pretty much all of congress and definitely the administration - have destroyed everything the party stood for. OK, not everything, I'll go 40% destroyed, 60% fairly normal stuff.
Too much gerrymandering for it to happen, and so the Reps will probably do OK. But really needs to be a beatdown of epic proportions led by Republican voters.
The Republican party under Trump became controlling pricks just like the Dems. Two sides of the same coin, just on different stuff. Both 'sides' destroying much of what they touch. Invasions, wars on drugs, religious bullshittery, nothing to free up the health care system which would lower prices, on and on doing nothing worthwhile, but a ton of ideological shit (Who's ideology? Not real Republicans...) instead.
Hoping like hell my usual favorites, the Repubs, get their asses epically kicked. (I like Libertarians with a legal framework and environmental lean, the main areas government should be in.) So that the NEXT election they can run a full slate of actual Republicans, reasonable republicans, not morons, but many who actually paid attention in some of their schooling as a kid. And yeah I know the Dems are clearly products of their control of the school system, i.e. are uneducated as hell. But that's neither here nor there, not the issue.
Yeah, it'll suck seeing the Dems feed hog wild at the trough, with their slop spilling everywhere. But it's no worse then this current bunch of Republicans.
Every once in awhile there needs to be a revolution. Kick all the Rs out! Until they shape up.
I humbly beseech and pray to you oh lord. 😎

It will be a bloodbath but it's in no way shape or form an endorsement of the Dems. This is a betrayal election. Trump made promises and didn't keep them. Voters feel betrayed so they're staying home or voting 3rd party or Dem.
The good news for Republicans is that Dems will almost certainly interpret the results incorrectly.

Save the drama for your mama. It's one midterm. The out party always wins and the GOP will lose some seats because of high gas prices. Big f#cking deal. The economy is growing and gas will come down before 28. The only thing that sucks is soccer. I'm a cricket fan now. Lars talked me into it.
@dbmhoosier lol betrayal election 🤣🤣🤣 Was Trump your boyfriend? He's a f#cking politician, that's it. Never type that again. You use to be a part of the Dream Team. A young emerging leader. Get yourself together.
@snarlcakes it’s an important sport. Top player has 271 million followers. What’s that kid on that local cubs team have? PCP or whatever. 27,000 or something
@dbmhoosier Whatever the result, I hope the new leadership actually tries to work and solve our current issues. At least forcing the far right, and far left, and Trump, to react to legislation attempts to do so. We gotta get out of the shit talking, while doing absolutely nothing productive, cycle. Force the other side to shit talk about actual solid policy positions, for a change.
If the Democrats win, and are in a position of leadership... put out a very simple bill that 1)Ends our official war efforts in Iran 2)Establishes new sanctions, policies, partnerships with other countries to inspect and police their nuclear efforts. Literally 1-2 pages maximum, clear wording, no wiggle room or stupid add ons. Publish it for the world to see.
Then put a very simple energy bill together that increases domestic production of oil, but also increases renewables initiatives. And start laying the groundwork for negotiations to start with the rest of the world, to start working together again with the Middle East, Asia, Central and South America, Canada... to share resources. Nothing special for Iran, or Russia, or whoever else. This is what we're doing. This is what we're going to have to offer. We're the United States of America, we'd love to work with anyone that wants to work with us. You can benefit from buying from and selling to us. But you won't take advantage of us, and we won't take advantage of you in return.
Then put a very simple bill together that 1)Dissolves ICE 2)Establishes a new office charged with processing, deporting, and naturalizing... lets say 1 million illegals a year. 3)Adds significant funding for border security, AND money to train and coordinate the new office to work in conjunction with local and state police to help weed out illegals that are committing certain types of crime. Make that Bill so simple its a couple pages long, and can be published for everyone to see.
Make Senate Republicans try to amend these bills, and then make Trump veto them. But also make far left congress people publicly oppose them too. And when they do, double down on them, keep them posted somewhere, and spend the next 2 years reminding everyone what we could have working for us. When gas is still $4, when interest rates are still higher, when houses and cars are still unaffordable, when wages stay stagnant and aren't keeping up with the above pressures... Remind them of the 3 bills above, over and over and over again... and what they could be doing to help the issues. And then win the POTUS, and give yourself a punchers chance to keep congress, in 28'.
First month in office, literally all they should focus on and do are a few things like above. Set the tone.
Obviously that's not what they'll do. I'm being intentionally naiive and idealistic. To Trump's credit early on after the 24 election, he tried, in his own way, similar blunt, clear actions to solve an issue. He completely fumbled the execution of it, with the ICE overreach. But he did get to work on a campaign pillar issue. We need similarly bold leaders, but that also have common sense, experience, tact, and maybe even shreds of humility and compassion. Trump has shown everyone its possible to be bold, and not die politically for it. Hopefully we start to see actual competent people, on both sides, being bold with things that will actually start to help us.
November the 4th, 2026 will be glorious if for no other reason than no longer having my senses assaulted by campaign ads for some random election in Bugtussle Kentucky or some such similar fecked up place while watching a FB game.
A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"
@iunorth you are correct gets away with more, but he addressed the biggest issue in America, immigration, and neither party was prior to him. It was an unique opportunity that was teed up for anyone who had the balls to address it.
Tale from a retired old fart.
In the last few years, my cost of housing has gone up more than $400/month and none of that has anything to do with Trump.. That increase is exclusively attributed to increase in ad valorem taxes and insurance premiums. The tax increase is a product of outrageous inflation in values, some of which comes from increased regulatory environment and increasing scarcity of water. Insurance increase is building costs inflation much of which comes from outrageous costs of building trades because of skilled labor shortages. And then there is the increased costs of energy and other occupancy expenses.
None of this has to do with the price of gasoline or the war in Iran.
The democrats were smart in glomming onto “affordability “ and pinning that on Trump. But for this old fart, Trump has little to no impact on my increase costs.
