  • @aloha-hoosier My game is crazy inconsistent. I’ve shot low of 73 this year and high of 89. A 73 will come out of my last 20 scores tomorrow and my handicap should increase. I am assuming I won’t replace the 73 with another 73 tomorrow.

My mental barrier is 75. I've scored 75 probably 30 to 40 times in my life but just haven't been able to break it. It's like breaking 100, 90 and 80 the first time. They are really mental barriers as we learn to play. Funny story is that I was only 1 over on the 18th hole at a course in Columbus. It was a long dogleg right, but and if you can't cut the dogleg the second shot is a long iron into the green. It took a solid 300-yard drive to cut the corner, and I could hit it that far back then (2007) so I gave it a shot thinking I could birdie it and score par 72. I busted it and thought I did it, but after walking through the trees I found my ball among them. It had to hit the very top of one of them. Long story short, I double bogeyed and got yet another 75. I should have played it the other way. Golf is a hell of a game.

@joe_hoopsier OK, WTF is a "Bellybutton commander?" That's one I've never heard and I'm no spring chicken - or a young minnow . . . I'm an old Squid.

The fact that you have the temerity to question anyone else’s intellect is hilarious considering how many times you fail to exhibit any…

Question? I have no question about it. I know you're about as dumb as any poster this board has ever seen. I do wonder what a guy with such an obvious lack of intelligence does for a living. What do you do?

Also, you didn't go to IU. Why do you hang around here? It's definitely not to increase the average IQ of the WC. I bet you decrease the average IQ of every room you walk in to, including empty ones.

Wanna bet I didn’t go to IU?  Back up your claim, let’s put a wager on it, put up or shut up…

Do you have the ability to read? I said that I thought you didn't go to IU because I thought you had answered that way in the poll. That's nothing but mistaken memory, IF you answered otherwise or you have ever said you went to IU. So, you seem to be saying you did attend IU. When did you attend and when did you graduate? What was your major? I'm betting an easy one, IF you attended and you managed to graduate.

That’s what I thought, the worst kind of stupid.  All hat, no cattle.

Can’t read 8 pages without my iPad locking up, so I’ll just say:

I generally like Rand Paul, and I think Fauci lied occasionally and intentionally misstated things often, but I wish the character assassination could wait until after the demonstration of the information about Covid, its origins, and the overwhelming numbers that ALWAYS showed very few healthy people under 70 and without co-morbidities and other serious pulmonary problems were at risk of death, and suppressing their immune-system over-reactions would save even many of those.

I took 6 vaccinations on advice of doctors who admitted they had no idea if they worked and might even do some unexpected harm, and even though my rheumatoid drugs suppressed my immune system and (to my untrained mind) likely protected me from the cytokine storms that killed others.  I could not visit my mom as she was dying in the hospital from “rapid onset of dementia of undetermined origin” or invite more than 6 people to her funeral. Covid rules.

I also had Covid 3 confirmed times, and maybe just recently had it again but never got tested by my physicians. So in my personal experience, the Fauci side still has some ‘splainin’ to do. Common sense died early, and the scientific community maybe knew as little about the long-term effects of the drugs as they apparently did about the disease.

It was not our finest hours. Glad it’s gone, but I’m betting that after I’m dead the world will say “natural immunity and a few masks were all they needed.” Could be wrong. Can accept that too - (especially if it’s proven after I’m dead!)

Because I was very healthy, I had zero worries about getting COVID. I worried about my father who was nearing 80 and had just beaten stage four colon cancer. My wife (this was pre-breast cancer) was very worried but she'd always been a bit of a germaphobe. COVID made that worse. We had about a thousand people where I worked at the time, my title was then Deputy Chief of Staff and became Chief Operations Officer (really same job, different title) and my group was responsible for tracking COVID cases like days off due to sickness, deaths, and eventually vaccinations. This job I did myself with one trusted employee because it's personal information stuff. Before the vaccine, we had two deaths and lots of illnesses lasting many days or even two to three weeks. After the vaccine, we had zero deaths and only a few days off here and there for getting Covid. We had nearly 100 percent vaccinated because we did business with international personnel and it was required for those who traveled and those who interact with them. Of course that included me, plus doing it made my wife very happy. Got her vaccinated soon as possible too. Then she got breast cancer and I continued to get the vaccinations yearly. It was all worth it for her peace of mind, even though I'd be perfectly good with no longer getting the vaccination. I even wore the mask when it was appropriate - not for me, but for the peace of mind of others. I have no problem with that. As for the vaccinations, I've had no side effects from them - except x-ray vision which is not all that bad . . .

As far as I know, I never got COVID, but I've read that 98 percent of us probably have. I just rarely get sick from anything at all.

The vaccine initially saved lives…yes there were adverse effects. Monoclonal antibody therapy was a game changer for many…they improved quite quickly. Once mutation to Omicron occurred, the vaccine was no longer needed…although a lot of people continue to receive…even though some people on here said Bobby Kennedy made it very difficult to receive (that was inaccurate)….masks didn’t work…the government was too slow to react…kids didn’t need vaccinated…the vaccine rollout was poorly handled (to put it mildly)…we had a math problem that we never could find the solution

No doubt a big part of golf is mental. I am passionate about golf and love the competition. My number one goal is to shoot my age.

Does anybody know what will be accomplished with the Fauci hearings?  Congressional hearings serve to help with legislation, to exercise oversight, (which Congress now seriously abuses) or to consider appointments.  In short we have too damn many hearings that serve no purpose.

Fauci has a pardon and he will probably take the fifth anyway.  I don’t accept for one second the role he played in mucking up the country, his dishonesty, his conflicts of interest, or anything else. He is the epitome of a bad public servant and dealt a serious blow to trust in government. Yet Congress has limited or no power to do anything with him. The hearings only seem like a way for congressional members to get on TV.

He’s a criminal which is why he sought out a Pardon from the Autopen. So much for “I am Science”. It should be “I am a criminal”.

I played golf in law school and for a few years in practice. Then I quit. I lasted longer with tennis but quit that too.  I decided I’m not cut out for “concentration” sports.  I did a lot of skiing, fly fishing and bicycling.  Skiing required some concentration on the more technical steep slopes but the cruisers were magnificent freedom.  With all three you could enjoy the natural environment and not worry about keeping your head down.

One of my best friends gave up golf for snow skiing about 15 years ago. I’ve been invited to his place in Snowmass many times. I made a huge mistake not taking him up on the offers. I wish I had learned to ski

Interesting story with my friend’s purchase of property in Snowmass. I think the condos are called “ski in ski out”. This was years ago. He had to get in a lottery to get opportunity to buy the condos awaiting construction. He won the lottery but lost badly after they were built. The property values went to hell when it was time to buy. He paid for his property and it turns out all these years later he got a bargain. 😂

@mommyshine5220 Colorado skiing went through the roof. Actually skiing most everywhere. Used to be small companies then a big outfit bought up most of the resorts. Crowded. Crazy expensive.

No, he just didn't want to be a victim of Trump's corrupt revenge tour.

If you want to see pardoned criminals, look at the all of the felons Trump has pardoned...including the insurrectionists from Jan 6.  MAGA must love criminals getting to escape justice 😉

He is smart to take the 5th.  why be a part of the republican hyper-partisan clown show. It is nothing but trying to distract from the corrupt person in the white house.  Maybe they will forget about Epstein and the Iran War if we can get some juice on Fauci..

Snowmass is unique that way. Many original condos and hotels are ski-in ski- out.  They are located up the side of a slope with a chairlift at the bottom.  But the place has grown a lot and now accommodations are all over the place.

Vail, which is now a private equity firm, owns ski areas all over the U.S. and Canada including Breckenridge, Keystone, and a few more in Colorado.  Vail was started by a group of 10th Mountain vets.  That is a very interesting history.  While you can’t change the mountain, the town now has a totally different vibe
