One of my coffee buddies was bitching about new cars and all the gadgets, bells and whistles you get these days. All he wants is to go forward, backward and a few other things. He said one day he borrowed his daughter’s car and as he was backing out of her driveway, the car started playing a video of some kid being run over
@joe_hoopsier I'll be serious here. I spoke at one of our friend Bing's advancement ceremonies and Bing told me a month later over a couple of drinks at a Comedy Club with our wives that I should get up and do stand up on improv night. NOPE! Not ever going to do that. Coming up with a routine would take far too much work. 😉 Also, one of my Ohio golfing buddies did that one night and told me it was not a fun experience. That's even though he got some laughs. I enjoy speaking and teaching, and telling jokes, but it would be far different if the focus would be on entertaining and trying for laughs for even 20 minutes straight.

He's in command of a unit deployed to the Middle East. Can't say which country or which unit. I can say neither he nor anyone in his command have been wounded from any of Iran's missile attacks. His family is back in my old Ohio neighborhood. He never sold that house and he's planning another tour in Wright-Patterson after this one. It'll depend on whether he gets promoted to flag. He's an O6 now.

I’m saying Aloha made the same claim late in the life of the Cooler that he supported the GBD in real time. What I’m saying is there was nothing in his posting history to support that.

You supported the GBD less than a week ago, right? I do not recall you mentioning that before that. Maybe you can site your own stance on this. I very well could have missed it.
Uh no. Are you kidding? It came out in 2020 when we were on the old WC. I had several arguments with Marvin and I think Uncle Mark who didn't like the idea at all because IIRC, they didn't think it would be possible to just protect the vulnerable. They can chime in if they want, but I think I was right then and I still think I was right about the GBD. Not all scientist agreed with it, but it made the most sense to me and would have been a lot less disruptive to society.

I definitely remember you claiming you supported the GBD on the old board. I also remember doing a keyword search on “Barrington” and your username and finding absolutely nothing to support that idea throughout 2020.
Well, you're wrong, which you should be very used to. It's a fact. I actually still have the link to it in my bookmarks. I may have been the first to link it and to support it, but I don't remember that as an absolute fact. Someone might have beaten me to that.

Let's be serious. I think I was the first to link it and support it, but I'm not going to swear to it. I was for the GBD from the very first time I read it. Ranger probably supported it too and it could well be he was first to link it, but that's not all that relevant. You guys hate that I've always thought Trump was unfit for office, but I NEVER supported all the lockdowns or any of the over-the-top stuff that happened during COVID. I always thought it was the wrong approach. Protecting the vulnerable, which of course would mean wearing masks around them, and building herd immunity was the right approach.

Not only was he not the original one to bring it up. When I looked into it there was no record of him supporting it until at least 2022.

I’m not saying you were an avid lockdown supporter. My recollection of you at that time is more of a fence sitter. Which for someone who trusts the federal government implicitly, was actually progress on your part.
