We do have better models. But that can be overcome in a matter of months. What can't be overcome is the lack of physical infrastructure to back it up.
The human capital it takes to build the best models in world. Pulling from every conceivable corner of the globe, is something they will never have.

They’re not imbeciles and it would be all to easy to take them for granted. Technological integration in virtually any sense would be catastrophic.
Maybe building the hardware’s not that difficult second through. Musk innovated cheap satellites and cheap space travel. Ultrasound equipment cost American hospitals a fortune, then the Japanese or whoever built them for pennies on the dollar.

You may or may not be accurate on this AI discussion. Way too early in the game I believe for anyone to really know how this looks a decade out. But putting AI aside, there are a lot of other major challenges that have done nothing but get progressively worse over the last decade, from the US perspective.

And Trump, in his own inimitable style, emphasized that the Thucydides Trap really refers to an emerging power challenging a declining power, and praised Xi for the remark:

Amazing that the President of the United States is willing to lend credence to the notion that we're in decline.
