My instant response is to release them unredacted (except for victims) precisely to expose the seedy and worse behavior, precisely to allow reputations to be tarnished by the public eye if such is the case. Such people deserve a scarlet A at the very least. Accountability.
Evidently the DOJ is allowed to release them and there’s a public outcry to do so then so be it.

The trip was not designed to produce a grand bargain. It was designed to keep the two nations from blindly walking into a confrontation that neither wants to happen. It delivered from that perspective.
