What comes out of the much anticipated summit? Trump is walking in with a whole lot of leverage. Stranglehold on Iranian and Venezuelan oil. American companies continue to leave China in the dust in the AI race.

But flattery does work on the Donald. Hopefully he doesn't concede anything he doesn't need to.

An unending supply of virgin lbfms and Trump might never return.

Aren't there like 4 rounds of talks? Nothing will come of the first round. We'll probably end up selling them chips (or selling access) in return for better trade terms. Nothing will happen on Taiwan.

Looks more like an Epstein Island flight log.

@dbmhoosier China is the enemy, we hear that often. We do not allow anyone to sell them advanced chips because of their threat.

So what in hell is the Nvidea CEO doing on this trip?

Discussing whether or not Nvidia can sell chips in China & the terms????  Are you in protest of this?  Should the Trump admin never change their stance on anything or look for wins for the US & our companies?  I don’t know if this will benefit the US, but to bemoan the fact they are even having discussions is quite telling.

Many like to throw rocks at COH but no poster has moved farther from reasonable & objective than you Marv.  Stop letting TDS make you a fool….

It would be nice if there was someone along to represent American farmers, asking to restore the Chinese markets that Trump took away.

Sorry but Trump is only there to distract from the Epstein files and to take bribes from the Chinese. He doesn't care in the slightest about anyone but himself.

We often deride Trump for being a "transactional" president, but this attribute will probably make it easier for the Chinese to work with him. The Chinese would love nothing more than to sit down with an American president and go down a list of "What do you get, what do we get" without being interrupted with "Yeah, but now we need to talk about human rights abuses in the western provinces." Any president other than Trump would bring that up. Trump doesn't give three shits about human rights abuses.

I'm not trying to artificially raise expectations here, but if it's possible for Trump to have a very successful international summit, this one is the best bet there is. I expect:

1. Deals on technological integration, especially on microchips. (Edit: sounds like this one is already underway.)

2. Status quo on Taiwan: no new military threats, but no affirmation of Taiwanese independence.

3. Some sort of progress toward a US-China dual great power global security policy, touching on Korea, Ukraine, Iran. Nothing concrete here has to happen, just both sides saying all the right things when it comes to working together to exert a joint will overseas. The unspoken undercurrent of this is: boxing out Russia and India.

4. Various red meat minor issues: some sort of agreements on food supplies, tariffs, copyright protections, etc. All things that are hot buttons for subsets of people in each nation, but can be dealt with now because they are not currently front-page news.
