@hoosiers94 It's all about pipeline. When you don't have it, you end up settling for bad deals while the clock ticks down.

sounds like we have the wrong people in the wrong places
Dolson should never live down not hiring May or McCollum. An all time blunder. Does Anyone really think Doorknob is going to make a deep run in the tournament?
*eyeroll*
What if.. neither ever considered IU.
You delusional bandwagon types act like IU is a destination job and every coach wants to be here, when in reality it's probably seen more as a career killing destination with a delusional entitled fanbase. It takes a lot of balls or foolishness to take this job. Same with UK, and UNC. Unlike those two schools, what has IU done in the last 30 years to attract a top tier coach?
most coaches at that level have balls. I know that's hard for snowflakes to understand. They have egos. They don't believe they will ever fail. If they did they wouldn't be any good. Just the ones we hire suck
You're delusional.
about what.
Well, in the other thread, you suggested we should pursue Bill Self. You are delusional about who we can and should get.
you're the type that doesn't want to think outside the box. Oh this guy won't come here he's got a great gig or this guy won't come because he's from that state or why would he come to IU he's won so much where he's at ... maybe. But it's Dolsons job to sell our job .. and maybe convince someone to make a move. Some people will move with money , some with power, some with whatever. It's Dolsons job to find the motivator. And if you contact 10 top guys maybe only 2-3 funnel into consideration..: I'm wagering they don't contact enough. Why wouldn't we go after Lloyd or Otz or whomever. Even May .. don't care he's been at Michigan now only 2 years. Same with Hurley or Golden. Worst they say is no but you had better not leave anything on the table trying to save a buck in negotiations..
Lol. More delusions. (Incorrect) guesses asserted as facts.
Very imaginative though. You should write a novel. Then you can give your imaginary bad coach any nickname you want.

It’s not about “balls”, it’s about their perception of how good the job is and whether it’s a place you can win at a high level.
McCollum isnt so good! He only just got into the tourney in his first season at Iowa. 🤣 Then flamed out in the final 8 . 😆 And he only curb stomped by 17 a not too good Indiana team, at Indiana. Should have been at least 25.
Sure, he will need to reload now, with Stirtz moving on. So maybe next year is not as good for them. But eventually he will have them rolling. Expecting a Purdue approach only with higher end tourney chances. Not that Purdue hasnt done reasonably well.

do you think Arkansas or st John's were in better shape than us. Or Iowa or Iowa st or Texas I mean really. Look at their recent past. Vanderbilt. No way those places all have more ability or opportunity to win than we do.

never said they were facts. Not once. Hence the words my gut or intuition or imo. Is it that hard. Are you in middle school?
Had DeVries done what McCollum did, you'd be worshipping him even more. Iowa didn't struggle to make the NCAAT. As for Stirtz and hot shooting, well no shit; good guard play and shooting are pretty damn important parts of the game. The E8 run wasn't luck.@tr32 True but past performance (although at lower levels) indicates that this is normal for him, not a one-off of good fortune.
Iowa really struggled to even make the tourney. They lost a lot at the end of the season and were bailed out by Sturtz and hot shooting.
Some people just can't accept that BM has, and will continue to, make DD his bitch. Make whatever excuses you'd like, but the difference between those two is quite stark ... Iowa has an elite coach, and IU has someone who couldn't take a $10M roster to the NCAAT.
Fair comments, but literally, had Iowa lost one more regular season game they may not have made the tourney.
My point is he didnt go full Cignetti, he had a good first year. It doesn't mean "we hired the wrong Drake coach".
Hoiberg, Jay Wright, plenty of coaches didnt do jack in their first year.
DeVries has a lot of work to do, but Im not off the boat after 1 year. In contrast, I was pretty discouraged by Crean and not sold on Archie after year one. And I knew MD wasnt the answer after the first 5 minutes of his first game.
DeVries has to get big guys who can play outside in pick and pop but also rebound. If he gets that he will probably have something to build around. Wilkerson was an excellent player. Alexis, Dorn, Connerway- all solid last minute pick ups. Let's see if he can build something.

Nope. I honestly kind of hate how Iowa plays and wont be worshipping Ben McCollum ever for their dribble drive style of play.
I know McCollum didnt hang the moon or anything. But an impressive first season. And a background that says its no fluke. Im still just salty he wasnt the guy we hired. And I dont believe those saying he was never coming here over Iowa. Last spring people were pretending to have inside info that there were sticking points on control or what way to build rosters and that he wasnt into being our fallback choice. But maybe we did just get beaten by bad timing where Iowa was smart enough to dump their guy when the right long term guy was available. Good for them.Fair comments, but literally, had Iowa lost one more regular season game they may not have made the tourney.

Not saying DeVries isnt a good coach. I think he is. We will be OK. And be contenders again. I hope its sooner than later.
