Gregg Doyle (I don’t read his stuff) had a post today that hinted at Purdue having their next HC on staff. I’m not tuned into PU like that, but is Painter hinting the end of the road may come sooner rather than later? He’s just 55.

Doyle is awful and probably looking for clicks, but it’s an awfully random article if there’s not a hint of substance.

that would be surprising. But you never know I guess.  Did he hint as to who that was.  Don't think it's my boy Brantley.  Played with him in HS.

Hiring from within makes sense from a program continuity standpoint (if the program has had sustained success). I can see Purdue going that route once Painter retires. It worked when PU went from Keady to Painter, so why not?

I don't pay much attention to MSU, but I'd guess they'll also follow that succession plan once Izzo retires. Someone like Dane F...

Oh wait.

I think you just answered your own question.

There will also be Doyle article that says they have to look outside for the best available candidate to ensure the continued success of the program.

@hoosiers94 That crew misses Gumbel.  Right now, Kellogg is the only guy who should be there and is carrying their sorry asses.  The chick adds nothing and Seth Davis is a doorknob, to borrow a term from you.

Each of the last 9 years

... and Indiana has made the NCAA tourney twice in the last 10 years. The Hoosiers have evolved into a non-factor in the competitive NCAA basketball scene.  Tears

@hooky The "game analysis" is so bad that I find something else to do during pre-game, half time and game end. I can't watch that garbage.

I believe they've also been to the Sweet 16 7 of the last 9 years. They put that graphic on the screen during their game. And of course that appearance in the title game... but also the first round loss as a 1 seed.

Now that we're past the first 2 rounds, I hope I don't have to watch them again.  The studio crew of Zucker, Kellogg, Barkley and Mashburn would be good.

that's one of the many reasons why many of the best Indiana high school basketball players decide to play at Purdue.
