Top Five: Opponent Wide Receivers

Top Five: Opponent Wide Receivers

Our “Top 5” series continues! Today, we take a look at a position in which elite players have consistently terrorized the Indiana Hoosiers secondary: wide receivers. Throwback Thursday: Michigan State 52 Indiana 26

Throwback Thursday: Michigan State 52 Indiana 26

This week’s Throwback Thursday chronicles IU’s “closer than the score looks” loss to the Michigan State Spartans. This was the final game before IU headed into their much-needed open week. The Hoosiers just seemed to run out of gas in the fourth quarter after a grueling opening to the Big Ten slate facing Ohio State and Penn State before taking on Michigan State. Staying true to the theme of 2015, IU was close to knocking off a top-10 team, but just couldn’t get over that last ridge.

Opponent: Michigan State Spartans

Location: Saturday November 7th /3:37pm/ Memorial Stadium/ (Bloomington, IN)

Why They Played:  The Hoosiers and Spartans meet annually now for the Old Brass Spittoon as part of the Big Ten East.

Five Indiana kick times are now official. The Hoosiers season opener at Florida International on Thursday, Sept. 1, is set for a 7:30 p.m. start time on ESPNU. Indiana's 104th Homecoming game against Nebraska on Oct. 15 will start at 3:30 p.m. The Hoosiers Oct. 22 road contest against Northwestern is scheduled for an 11 a.m. CT/noon ET start. Television designations will be made on a six- or 12-day basis.

En route to its New Era Pinstripe Bowl appearance last season, IU finished first in total offense, passing offense and scoring offense, while placing second in rushing offense in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers became the first team since Ohio State in 1995 to lead the league in total, passing and scoring offense.
