Major Indiana Football Prospects Make Their Way To Bloomington This Weekend

Written By Sammy Jacobs (@Hoosier_Huddle)

Indiana is wrapping up their final weekend of their annual summer football camps, where high school prospects from all over the country descend on Bloomington with the hopes of impressing the Hoosier coaching staff. In a list published by Matt Weaver of Peegs.com there are 11 prospects who are drawing major interest from the Hoosiers in Bloomington this weekend. Let's take a look at who may be donning the Crimson and Cream in the future.

1. Thomas Allen, Tampa, FL, Linebacker (IU Commit)

Allen, the son of current Indiana defensive coordinator Tom Allen, committed to the Hoosiers on June 1st. Indiana will probably be emphasizing the linebacking and defensive line positions in the 2017 class and Thomas Allen is a solid one.

2. Britt Beery, Carmel, IN, Defensive End (IU Commit)

Beery is the other IU commit to be in camp this weekend as he makes the trip down from Carmel. Beery is the seventh best player in the state and fills a major need along the defensive line. He committed to the Hoosiers on March 7th.

3. Peyton Hendershot, Lizton, IN, Tight End (Ball State Commit)

Hendershot is a three-star tight end and the 17th best prospect in the state accounding to 247Sports. He committed to play for the Ball State Cardinals back on March 21st and is awaiting an offer from IU. He currently holds eight offers including two Power-Five schools in Wake Forest and Syracuse.

4. Caleb Jones, Indianapolis, IN, Offensive Tackle

Jones is a mountain of a man at 6'9" and 320 pounds, and would be perfect for the Big Ten. Jones currently holds an IU offer and 247Sports' Crystal Ball has him leaning toward the Hoosiers. Jones is currently ranked by 247 as the sixth best player in Indiana. He is being recruited by both Greg Frey and James Patton. He holds five offers including ones from Purdue and Cincinnati.

5. Jordan Jusevitch, Lowell, IN, Defensive Back (2018)

Jusevitch won't be in the mix until at least the 2019 season, but that is not stopping the Hoosiers from looking at the in-state DB. Currently Jusevitch holds an offer from Central Michigan.

6. Quinn Miller Lawrenceville, GA, Linebacker

Linebacker has become a priority in this class as the talent pool will need to be replenished after 2016. Miller is a three-star prospect and has prototypical size, at 6'2" 230 pounds, for a linebacker. Miller does not have an IU offer, but holds three total offers including Central Florida and Cincinnati.

 7. Chinedu Ogbonna, Marietta, GA, Linebacker

A top-1,000 prospect according to 247 Sports, Ogbonna is high on the Hoosiers as the Crystal Ball has them at 50% along with Tennessee. Ogbonna is another quality linebacker and is being recruited by both William Inge and Tom Allen. Ogbonna did tweet a few weeks ago that he was committed to IU, but that never became official. Maybe we will see an official commitment this weekend.

8. Tramar Reece, Clearwater, FL, Defensive End

The Hoosiers have had a lot of success recruiting the Clearwater and Tampa area recently and they could use the services of this defensive end. Reece is a three-star prospect with 18 offers. The Crystal Ball has him leaning toward Iowa State. He is being recruited by Greg Frey and Mark Hagan.

9. T.J. Smith, Marietta, GA, Wide Receiver

Smith is the high school teammate of fellow camper Chinedu Ogbonna. Smith is currently a two-star prospect, but is intriguing due to his 6'5" frame. Smith is looking to impress IU coaches on this visit as he holds only one offer from Arkansas State.

10. Keisean Wilson, Waldorf, MD, Linebacker

Maryland is one of the richest talent pools in the country when it comes to football and Wilson is a quality backer as he is ranked as the 20th best player in the state. IU recently offered Wilson in May and he holds 17 others.

11. Michael Ziemba, Lake Mary, Defensive End

The two-way player is being recruited to IU as a defensive end, a need for the Hoosiers in this recruiting class. Ziemba is a three-star prospect with 22 offers, but the Hoosiers are leading the way in his recruitment. 247's Crystal Ball is in favor of the Hoosiers.
