In the span of less than a week the narrative of this game went from maybe the Hoosiers can give them a game at home to hoping the Hoosiers may score a touchdown. It has been a rough week in Hoosier Nation with the announcements that starting quarterback Nate Sudfeld is out for the year and his backup Chris Covington is likely out for this week. This leaves the offense in the hands of a former male model from California who has yet to take a snap in his college career. That guy is true freshman Zander Diamont, who won Los Angeles City Player of the Year and threw for 47 touchdowns in his senior year of high school. Indiana Running Back Tevin Coleman Added to Maxwell Award Watchlist

On Wednesday Indiana running back Tevin Coleman was added to the Maxwell Award Watch list along with Minnesota’s David Cobb, Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett, and Maryland’s Will Likely. Coleman is coming off a 219-yard and three-touchdown performance against Iowa last week. He leads the nation in rushing with 1,060 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2014.

Indiana's Worst Fears Are Realized, but Who Replaces Sudfeld?

When junior quarterback Tre Roberson announced in June that he was transferring from Indiana the Hoosiers worst nightmare was a long-term injury to Nate Sudfeld. Well, that nightmare is now a reality and the Hoosiers will have to scramble to replace his production. Sudfeld ends his 2014 season with 1,151 passing yards six touchdowns and three interceptions. For his career at IU Sudfeld has thrown for 4,306 yards 34 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 25 games including 14 starts.

In Monday’s press conference head coach Kevin Wilson announced that true freshman Chris Covington and Zander Diamont will be thrust into action. This does remove the redshirt from Diamont.
