The festivities of the Fourth of July have come and gone which means it is time to get to your favorite bookstore and grab the various college football preview magazines. We will look at the three most popular magazines, Athlon Sports, Lindy’s Sports and Phil Steele to see what each has to say about the Hoosiers heading into the 2024 season.
Athlon Sports
Projected Finish for the Hoosiers:
Athlon Sports has the Hoosiers finishing 17th in the Big Ten and not going to the postseason.

Athlon Sports gave IU an ‘A+’ for the hiring of Curt Cignetti who has a 119-35 career record.
Lindy’s Sports
Projected Finish for the Hoosiers:
Lindy’s Sports has the Hoosiers finishing 18th in the Big Ten and not going to the postseason. A last place finish would be devastating for a program who enters the season with some momentum.
Superlatives:
Best Scrambler- QB Kurtis Rourke
Schedule Strength: 16th in the Big Ten
Incoming Transfers Rank: 8th in the Big Ten
All-Big Ten Team Members:
2nd Team James Evans, Punter
2nd Team Donaven McCulley, WR
Coaching Hire Grade:
Lindy’s Sports gave the hiring of Curt Cignetti an 8.0 out of 10.
Phil Steele
Projected Finish for the Hoosiers:
Phil Steele is the highest on the Hoosiers out of the three major magazines and has the Hoosiers finishing 12th in the Big Ten.
Superlatives:
Schedule Strength: 68th toughest schedule nationally
Most Improved Teams: Steele has IU as the 4th most improved team heading into 2024. IU has nowhere to go but up after nine wins since the start of the 2021 season.
