2022 Indiana Football Positional Preview: Offensive Line

The Indiana University football offense was, by all accounts, less than perfect last season. Part of that certainly had to do with QB play, ground attack, and receivers. The bigger picture, and perhaps the reason behind it all, was the offensive line. Indiana’s OL finished 119th in the nation in line yards per carry and 91st nationally in sack rate, putting the team near the bottom of the list in stats related to both pass and run blocking. Offensive line coach Darren Hiller said he’s seen serious improvement among the OL room as apposed to a year ago, especially in how consistent they are. One thing going for Indiana’s offensive line: their experience. There’s not one started on the OL that hasn’t been with the Hoosiers for less than three years.

Every day, we look at players on the current roster and highlight the players' roles in the upcoming season. Today is #85 and diving into Ray McCall

Name: Parker Hanna

Hometown: Stratford, Texas

Position: OL

Height/Weight: 6-6/ 310

The Hoosiers picked up Hanna this past off-season after spending the past seasons at West Texas A&M. At West Texas, Hanna played the Left Tackle position where his team averaged a bit less than 430 yards of offense per game.

On March 31st Hanna announced that he entered the transfer portal and the same day announced that he received an offer from IU. That said, the Hoosiers coaching staff must’ve had their eye on the big offensive tackle for a while. Hanan chose the Hoosiers over Rice, Louisiana Tech, and UNLV.

Hanna was not recruited out of high school ending up in a powerful D2 school and him transferring to the Hoosiers must’ve been a been a dream of his to play Division 1 football. Expect Hanna to be a key part of the line with his experience and physicality even if he does not see the field.
