Hoosiers Finish 2020 Season 12th in Final AP Poll

The Indiana Hoosiers (6-2) finished 12th in the final AP Poll of the 2020 season that was released very early Tuesday morning. The Hoosiers dropped from seventh to 12th after their 26-20 loss in the Outback Bowl to Ole Miss. This is the sixth time the Hoosiers have finished the season ranked in the AP Poll and the first since 1988. The Hoosiers are ranked for the 10th consecutive week in the AP Poll.

The Hoosiers have been idle the last two weeks due to COVID cancelations. This is a program-record eighth straight week that the Hoosiers have been ranked in the AP poll. The Indiana Hoosiers (6-1) were idle in the final week of the regular season after the annual Old Oaken Bucket Game was canceled based on a mutual decision between both IU and Purdue. Even through the Hoosiers did not play this week they moved up to number seven in the AP poll and to number seven in the Amway Coaches Poll. The Indiana Hoosiers (5-1) returned to the AP top 10 this week after a bounce back 27-11 win over Maryland Saturday. The Hoosiers came into the game ranked 12th in all three polls. This is the Hoosiers sixth-straight week ranked in the AP Top 25, which is their longest streak since 1987. The Hoosiers are one of five Big Ten teams ranked in the top 25 (Ohio State No.3, Indiana No. 10, Northwestern No. 16, Wisconsin No. 18 and Iowa No. 24).
