Nicolas Radicic Didn't Have IU on His Radar Early, but Kasey Teegardin Reeled Him in Anyway

On Thursday afternoon the Hoosier landed the number three kicker in the nation for their 2023 recruiting class in Nicolas Radicic. IU was never the plan for Radicic who had three other official visits that were lined up, none of them were to Bloomington. However, IU special teams coordinator Kasey Teegardin knew what he wanted and pursued Redicic until he got what he wanted, a commitment.

“I have built a great relationship with Coach (Teegardin) throughout this recruiting process.” Radicic told Hoosier Huddle. “I had three visits lined up for this summer and Indiana wasn’t in the mix at first. Than coach Tee went as far as sending me plane tickets and that’s when I released I need to go check out this place.”

That is when the pitch IU was giving him started to work.

“Once I got there I spoke with Coach Allen and Coach Mclnerney and it just made the whole experience even better. I have no doubt in my mind that these coaches are going to make me the best player and person I could be.” Radicic added.

Outside of the conversations and relationships with Allen and Teegardin, Radicic said “everything stood out to me about IU. From the talk with coach Allen in his office to the facilities to the amazing hospitality, it just doesn’t get better than that! I love the environment there and I can’t wait to ball out and start a new chapter at an amazing place like that!”

Radicic has been really successful in every national competition he has been in and has been named to the 2023 All-American Bowl as well. However, that success is just a title to him.

“I have battled it out with the best guys in the country countless times and I’ve always been at the top. Awards come and go, they are just a title. I’m ready to win some awards with the team and not just by myself. When I look at the guys in my class I see myself at the top with the best in the country and I’ve proved that over and over again” Radicic explained.

Radicic is ready for the the next level even if that level is up north in Indiana. “Weather doesn’t effect me. It gets cold here in Texas as well. There have been two snow storms in the past two years and it stayed very cold. Put me anywhere in the country and I will give u everything I’ve got. A little cold never hurt nobody!” Redicic exclaimed about transitioning to a cold-weather state.

Teegardin and Allen have put an emphasis on getting special teams better, Radicic should be a nice continuation of what they created with Charles Campbell and the rest of the specialists.
