The Indiana Hoosiers continue their run of success recruiting long snappers as IU landed the nation’s top-ranked long snapper in Alan Soukup out of Phoenix, Arizona. Soukup chose the Hoosiers over USC after recently visiting Bloomington. He is listed at 6’1” and 195 pounds.

Kohl’s, which is the industry standard for special teams ratings, lists Soukup as the number one long snapper and said, “Soukup is an absolute stud in the 2024 class. He has super long levers and extremely fast hands. Soukup recently competed against the best snappers in his class at the Kohl’s Underclassman Challenge and was extremely impressive. He finished the charting portion of camp with an average snap time of .66 seconds. Souku followed his solid charting performance by winning the camp wide snapping competition. He already has the talent and athleticism to start at the Power 5 level.”

Indiana’s current long snapper Sean Wracher was also one of the top snappers in the country and has been named a Phil Steele All-Big Ten performer all three seasons he’s been at IU. Wracher will wrap up his IU career after this season, so Soukup should have a great chance at starting at the position as a true freshman.

Soukup is the 13th member of the Hoosiers’ 2024 recruiting class.
