We are now a quarter of the way through Hoosier Huddle’s countdown to kickoff. We’ll offer a reset on the first 25 days at the end of this write-up, but today we take a look at another one of Indianapolis’s finest, defensive lineman LeShuan Minor.
LeShaun Minor (Freshman)
-Height: 6’3”
-Weight: 285 pounds
-Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana
-Position: Defensive Tackle
The 2017 recruiting class was stocked with defensive linemen and Indiana landed a good one in Indianapolis’s LeShaun Minor, who played his high school ball at Ben Davis. Minor was a star his senior season at Ben Davis earning all-state honors and was an Indiana Football Coaches Top 50 selection. He also earned the Indianapolis Star defensive lineman of the year award. He racked up 80 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss during a stellar senior year that backed up a great junior season when Minor recorded 61 tackles, 13 TFLs, three sacks, and two defensive touchdowns.
In an interview with the Indianapolis Star’s Zach Osterman Ben Davis head coach Mike Kirschner said. “IU’s getting is a very big, very strong, very athletic big man," Kirschner said. "They're hard to find."
Minor has a real shot to play during his freshman year as the Hoosiers will be looking for depth at defensive tackle after losing Ralph Green and Pat Dougherty to graduation. He has the size to hold up against Big Ten offensive lines. If he can break into the rotation, IU’s defensive line becomes much deeper.
