The cheating most likely to occur is with citizens who change their state residence. COoperation between states is less likely to catch dual or triple or morple voting. For instance, if Dems take both halves, will they get blamed for the inevitably lousy economy under Trump's final two years? If Dems get to 50 in the Senate, leaving the Pubs control, will that leave more blame on the Republicans, possibly enabling the Dems to sweep to a 60 majority in the Senate? Such questions...

I think your fear or concern is justified--why oppose the IDs? My experience is that voting precinct staff are conscientious and check voting lists carefully. Ultimately, our system is surprisingly legitimate for whatever reason. Far more insidious is Trump and others undermining its legitimacy conspiratorially.
