I’ve gotten to the point where a big slab of meat just doesn’t appeal to me anymore.

This is why Fogo exists. If I am going to pay those prices for meat, I am going to where they bring out as much as I want. Otherwise Longhorn, Outback, or Roadhouse. My Roadhouse has been pretty hit or miss lately.

FOGO was a great deal when I was younger and could eat a lot of steak. Now I'm a moneymaker for them.

LOL. I’m literally driving away from a Texas Roadhouse as I type this. My parents came up to take my daughter out for her birthday and she chose it because of the bread.

Meh.

It is meh, not bad but not better than one can make at home.

Excluding food, the thing I hate about Roadhouse is how loud it is. It is very hard to hear anyone in my party. On the other hand, tight jeans are always a plus

for the price point, I prefer Longhorn or Outback.

Longhorn is just slightly better than both.  That said, those $15 sirloins at Texas Roadhouse ain't bad.

Kinda miss Bobby's Colorado and the legit salad bar they had.  Hope whatever new place that comes in is decent.

That "Chop Shop" steakhouse on S Walnut (now the Bodega) was great in its brief run.  Legit sirloin for $19.  Loved when they had the coaches show there.

I like that Malibu seems to have rebounded of late...but had a ribeye there the other night and it was kinda meh.  Still need to have live soft jazz duos or trios in the bar.

Love the "scene" and "feel" of Janko's, but they really need to switch to Prime vs Choice cuts.

Mark at Truffles is a pain in the ass to order wine from, but might have the best steaks in town...really a toss up between his, and Michael's at Uptown for best in town.

Always hoping for the best at Southern Stone...used to be decent...but just never really good anymore.

@mattndallas we went to a couple of Moren's shows at Chop Shop and really liked it.

We are at Colorado often, sad it went out.

I like Janko's, it is often our special occasion place. But it isn't quite good enough to spend that much with any regularity.

The original restaurant where Southern Stone is, I can't remember the name, we liked. After it's first time being sold it was never the same. This newest iteration just doesn't work for me. For about the same money I can go to Uptown, which I think is the best in Bloomington.

But I am a cheapskate so we don't even go to Uptown very often.

My oldest tells me that Greenwood has a Brazilian steakhouse that is less expensive than FOGO. She says the salad bar is less impressive but is still good. We are going to see Steve Martin/Martin Short Saturday for my birthday and will hit that Greenwood place to try it out.

100% agree with everything here.

Southern Stone used to be "Sweetgrass", and it was legit.  Used to have jazz trios quite a bit.  Coaches shows.  Had a legit chicken fried steak.  Had a smashburger that was better than Hives or Hinkles.

We keep trying to give it chances, simply because of its location, but not sure its current iteration (as what looks like a laundering vehicle straight outta Ozarks), is going to rebound and offer anything compelling.

Nothing better than hanging at the Malibu or Uptown Bar.

I hear Da Vinci may be opening a bar kinda like Uptowns in that old ramen place next door to them.  Keep an eye on that.  Da Vinci has their act together.

@mattndallas thanks for reminding me of Da Vinci. We haven't been there in a long time. I have restaurants I try to make at least every 3-4 months, I should put it in that list. We try Bub's, Fat Dan's (unless we get to a Portillos), Three Amigos, and Lennie's on that kind of schedule.

My top rotation is The Dragon or My Thai, about once a week. Strangely, retirement has revealed I like the Dragon more than Dragon Express. After Express sold they weren't quite the same. Honestly, I used to have a lot of Chinese places I liked, right now, not so much.

@arthur-dent your last sentence can be applied to so many restaurants that I once loved. Not sure what has happened

  • @mcm666 Yeah I parked at sorority so was a 20 minute walk. Waited until we could go back in and it wasn’t raining. Saw them score one more time , saw more rain coming so left. Didn’t drive in much rain. Was at an Acacia tailgate put on by former player. Ernie Jones and a couple other former players there. They had a nice set up. Didn’t need to buy anymore drinks in stadium.

@zeke4ahs that helps. One of our crew is a former player and another season ticket holder so we were for seats etc. $12 a beer inside wasn’t bad.  I had not been to a game in forever.  Stadium experience was soooooooo much better. Enclosing it just makes all the difference

If you happen to find yourself in Indy near Fort Harrison, try Phaya Thai Street Food. Hidden Gem. Great food, reasonable prices, not afraid of seasoning their food.

The end zone enclosures changed everything. Even with just the NEZ, it was like night and day. Makes it feel like you're closer to the action.

We'll hit Siam House once a month for Thai.  Wife digs it.  Good patio.

Chinese, I used to have "Best Taste" as an easy #1.  Think it's called "Red Lantern" now.  Not sure if it's the same owners as before.

Now, really dig Peach Garden, with Chow Bar as a solid #2.

Want to try Uncle Wang's as well...just never have had the time.
