Downtown Indy much better than here.
Downtown Indy is great. I go to Indians games, and since my wife is a Colts fan, some Colts. Add in Gencon and Indy Comic Con, I am there often enough. They have had some violence, but largely speaking I haven't had any problems. I wouldn't walk the canal at night, which is a shame because it once was ok. But even with the recent issues, it has been better than it was when I worked downtown circa 1988.
Too bad I'm not in your posse's league. Indy is a great place to eat/drink.@bulk-vh yeah that’s what we should have avoided. Started early at Cortez’s house. Tailgate. Pounded beers in the stadium. Then manhattan’s at st Elmo’s. Then bourbon and tequila at the bar there at intercontinental (inside bar was pissing down rain). Downtown Indy much better than here.
.
@arthur-dent tons of restaurants open and lively. People walking around. Good variety. Downtown Stl on non birds blues city sc nights is a ghost town. And you’d be a fool to walk around wasted at midnight. Very impressed with downtown Indy. Altho st Elmo’s sucked
@mcm666 and did you come here and ask on advice where to go? Whose fault is that?
@arthur-dent univee asked that not me lol. And of course our buddy who lives a 1,000 miles away from the coast with no Indiana connections set everything up for us including reservations. Zagrebs was booked. We didn’t even go into town. Just to the game
@bulk-vh I’m not in their league either. I’m grandfathered in
LOL. I’m literally driving away from a Texas Roadhouse as I type this. My parents came up to take my daughter out for her birthday and she chose it because of the bread.Carry on. Delicious bean soup. Shrimp cocktail excellent. steaks yikes. Not good
Meh.

Meh.
It is meh, not bad but not better than one can make at home.
Excluding food, the thing I hate about Roadhouse is how loud it is. It is very hard to hear anyone in my party. On the other hand, tight jeans are always a plus
for the price point, I prefer Longhorn or Outback.
@arthur-dent honestly I can’t remember the last time I’ve been there. The outback up the street went out of business. I don’t even know where another one is. When I was young their founder was a client. He was a big Wellington polo player with my boss . These chains all seem to have shelf life. Somehow or for some reason I expect better from independents. But what do I know
It does. But over half the clientele is wearing sweats and/or has neck or face tats.@bradstevens ha! I bet the bill looks better tho

I've gotten to the point where a big slab of meat just doesn't appeal to me anymore. Last couple times we went to Outback I got the shrimp pasta (and the onion, of course).
@unclemark I wanted to get pasta last night at st Elmo’s but everyone was going on and on about being excited for steaks so I didn’t. I rectified it at the bar at ic when everyone was debating the size of ice for their bourbons and whiskeys and I very loudly directed the bartender who looked like brave to bring me a delicious margarita with salt - to a collective groan from the peanut gallery. By the end of the night I converted two others
@qparker here. Yup. Very impressed with downtown Indy. But St elmos sucked

Ok, that's just crazy.
