Congress is likely going to vote on legislation about this in the next few months. Hawley has been pushing it for years now.
What are the odds it passes? Seems low based on the betting markets.

Depends on what the final details are. I think a ban on purchasing securities while in office makes a lot of sense. Having to liquidate or place previously owned assets in a blind trust upon entering office is a step too far imo.
Only if you don't care about others finding out. Trump changed the game man.@ohio-guy lol I’m handsome and an incredible public speaker. Unfortunately a history of philandering failed businesses and a million miles of broken road behind me would probably be an impediment

Maybe we should skip Congress and just push you out into the next presidential primaries. As long as you don't have any connection to Jeffrey Epstein, you're golden.
I have no connections to Jeffrey Epstein, but since you asked, I'm out. There were significant portions of my 20's which remain...for lack of a better phrase...underrepresented in memories.
For that reason, I'm out.
Can you imagine finding out you rode a donkey at a party in your boxers with a sombrero on your head in a news report? Me either.
And that maybe, just maybe, you mistook a hotel air conditioning unit for a urinal.
Not saying anyone here did that but...........probably better it stays in the past.
I'm sure this will reinstill public trust in elected officials.
If you remember, she had previously funneled campaign donations to Tim's "consulting" business. Now, he suddenly claims to run a VC firm with $60B of AUM, despite being a SUNY Albany alum?
$6 to $30 million. Big chunk of change.
previously owned assets in a blind trust
Why? The fine print simply allows those blind trusts to have had a Jesus level healing the blind revival, to have 20/20 vision once again.
The road goes on for ever and their party never ends. Ever.
Divorce BEFORE you make any money! Do it quickly, do it often!

@joe_hoopsier I think we want our elected representatives to have a stake in the generalized success of the market. Obviously they shouldn’t use inside information to trade securities. But we don’t want a congress full of financial illiterates like Tim Walz either who are content to collect a half a dozen pensions. That’s not real life.
And that maybe, just maybe, you mistook a hotel air conditioning unit for a urinal.
I have a story about that.
Yay, more normalized corruption!
But I'm going to make a wild prediction: upon reading the linked article here, those who consider themselves MAGA and were most adamant that Hunter and Joe were crooked because of Hunter's Burisma board positions will say there is nothing worth talking about. Meanwhile, those who are Dems who spent the most time and effort saying there was no proof Hunter and Joe did anything wrong or were in the business of selling influence and access, will read the article and think it is clear Trump and Don Jr. are corrupt.

Federal regulators are lowering hurdles for prediction markets at the same time the president’s son is backing them
@bradstevens if people are paying attention, shouldn't it almost be assumed all our politicians are corrupt in some form or fashion?

Some don't even try and hide it, but for some reason get a free pass
